Helloo Peeps!
I need help with the game, í have been able to have 80-120 fps for the last year or so.
Suddently 2 days ago my fps dropped down to 5-30fps.
Only thing i did was change the OC setting from default to just a little bit higher, dont remember the settings tho but i resetted it to default and restarted pc, still low fps
Could be 1 of a billion reasons. Next time you’re playing open up task manager and see what your ram/cpu/gpu is running at. Hardware could be faulty, something could be overheating and throttling, corrupted wow files, corrupted GPU software. Windows update gone wrong, updated software wrong, could of had a blue screen and rams xmp reset. Need way more info if you want any help.
What’s your PC specs? What’s everything running at 0-100% (gpu/ram/hdd/cpu)? What temps is your CPU and GPU at etc
see in the tech support section. looks like 9.1 is a bit laggy/buggy. i also have huge fps drops and mouseover macros are bugged and cause the game to shutter
ofc ofc i understand that, i just think its very weird cuz it was suddenly dropped from morning to evening totaly changed and as i said, only thing i changed was OC in my MSI command center but that OC setting i changed back to default again.
I have tried reinstalling wow completly, scanned for corrupted files and tried repair, last night i did a complete reinstalling of win10, installed wow and everything but still same.
now this morning, 1hour ago or so i started wow, it was stable at 100-120fps and i exited and went to curseforge to download some addons. and as i went back to wow it was down to 5-30fps again.

Sounds like an addons tanking your FPS. Usually happens when ones out of date or not been updated. Turn them off 1 by 1 till your FPS is normal to find out which.
With a new patch many addons run into errors until updated by the authors.
These errors can slow down the game a lot.
Try disabling all addons (create a new char if you don’t want to mess with your main chars addons).
If that helps with your FPS, do what chocoh said and try to find the culprit by enabling them one by one.
the very first thing you should do is disable all addons and see if it still happens since a single outdated or buggy addon is capable of causing random fps drops like this.
you might also look at your CPU/GPU load to find the bottleneck. you could also set them to run at max capacity, like don’t throttle the GPU clock down when it’s idle. normally this isn’t necessary, but if you ran out of options you can give it a try.
if nothing seems to work, it’s probably blizzard related and they’ll fix it eventually. I just hope the performance doesn’t tank in the new raid
Did you alt-tab out of the game and then back without relaunching it? Overlays and sometimes some other apps may pretend like they are in focus which causes WoW to use the “background FPS” limit which by default is 30 FPS.
Also badly behaving addons can cause problems.
Gonna try again now to uninstall all addons, launch game and add 1 addon at a time.
And i allways close wow completely when installing an addon to be sure it will be implementaded as it should.
edit: I removed every addon i had, curseforge is empty and the addons folder in explorer is empty, at char menu the addon button isnt even there now, But im stable at 22fps.
Ctrl+alt+delete and go in task manager. What’s everything running at gpu/ram/hdd/cpu in %? 22 is far too low if you got 100+ somethings not right.
When game is running or not running?
When it’s running, what evers at 100% will be the issue most likely.
Well just notices in taskmanager the CPU is constantly at 100% usage. (this is without any games or downloads or anything)
atm taskmanager:
CPU 99-100% 4,18GHz
RAM; 31%
GPU: 0%
Disk 0 SSD: 0%
Disk 1 SSD: 1%
Disk 2 SSD: 0%
When i check MSI Dragoncenter it say otherwise.
CPU Usage: 23% annd 62degrec C
This most likely.
Taskmanager shows 1 core I believe, so if you have 4 will be about the 23% mark other one shows. So that’s no bother it’s fine. The fact your gpu is at 0% with game open, makes me think it’s not using your graphic card at all. But onboard graphics card built into CPU maybe? Go into your nvidia graphic software and see what it’s running at in there. Looks like it’s not using your graphics card at all though.
no this was without any games or downloads or anything, only chrome, battlenet , taskmanager and MSI Dragoncenter is up
Ah ok that makes sense, do the same again with game open when you get chance.
Well the GPU works around 0-4% after i launched the game and when inside the game.
i checked the nvidia control panel and manage 3D and there was no option to choose my gpu, however OpenGL setting i could choose my gpu and i can update it in nvidia, i find gpu in the taskmanager and i can choose my gpu ingame aswell.
Still around 15-20fps tho
EDIT: I just did a benchmark on GPU and it goes to 99-100% at 80degrees
Deffo GPU then sgould be running much higher. First thing I’d do is update it, and check for any windows updates. If that doesn’t work check your temps in the nvidia software. Cards purposely run worse the hotter they get, so they don’t fry. If temps are bad check the fans are running, just open the case and see if their actually moving.
Edit: just seen your edit lol, looks like GPUs fine then something to do with wow most likely. Just have a good update of windows and GPU first.
If you have iGPU on the CPU check if WoW isn’t switching to iGPU - via in game settings.
