Fractured Gemstone Locket is misleading or bugged

Hello Dev Team,

I’m encountering a serious issue with the “Fractured Gemstone Locket” and need your input. The item’s tooltip promises: “Whenever you heal an ally, bestow upon them 1 Empowered Gemstone to increase the potency of one of their socketed gems by 141 for 20 sec. When their gemstone becomes dormant, it is returned to you.” Despite this, it’s failing to activate under expected conditions.

I crafted this item using an Enchanted Gilded Undermine Crest and a Spark of Fortunes, materials that aren’t easy to come by. My character, a Ret Paladin, uses talents like Lightforged Blessing, Seal of the Crusader, Judgment of Light, Golden Path, and Worthy Sacrifice—all of which involve healing and should theoretically trigger the item’s effect, yet none do.

This issue has been raised with Game Masters already, but they’ve informed me they’re unable to assist with bugs or item functionality directly and have advised me to reach out for developer intervention. Therefore, I’m turning to this forum in hopes of getting this on your radar for a fix or at least a clear explanation.

This is why we need a system to refund crafted items :frowning:

What you actually need to do is report it as a bug ingame … the devs rarely or never visit the EU forum. One of the blues who posts here might be able to tell you if it’s a known bug on the devs’ radar but, in case no-one’s reported it, your best bet would be to report ingame.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve already filed a bug report in-game, but I wanted to bring more attention to the issue here. It’s disappointing because the item could have been a great addition to my Ret Paladin’s toolkit if it worked as described. I’m hoping the devs will either fix the item soon or update the tooltip to accurately reflect its functionality. It’s also frustrating because I crafted it based on the original tooltip description, and I’m hoping for a possibility of a refund or compensation for the resources spent.

But i will probably not hold my breath for it

Heya Valtorias,

I’m not part of the dev team, but hopefully will be able to shed a little bit of light on this anyway.

I totally understand this can be interpreted in different ways, and it’s always a challenge to keep tooltips informative without being overly long and complex but personally I would have read this as referring to direct healing spells, rather than passive effects.

Assuming it works for you with direct healing, I wouldn’t see this as a bug.

As for a refund of materials I’m afraid crafts aren’t reversible but I hope you can still gather what you need for the other items you were planning to make in time!

Thanks for your input. I understand the usual interpretation, but just by looking at the dungeon journal, there’s a clear distinction in wording that differentiates this item from others. Normally, items specify “your healing spells,” as seen in items like Darkfuse Medichopper, Mister Pick-Me-Up, Scrapsinger’s Symphony, and Gruesome Syringe. Each of these clearly mentions spells directly. However, the Fractured Gemstone Locket simply states “whenever you heal an ally,” without specifying the need for direct spells. This broader phrasing is why I expected it to work with any healing, including passive effects. I hope this clarifies why I see this as an inconsistency rather than a misunderstanding of the tooltip.
