So, what is going on with the extreme framedrops in Area 52 and Gadgetzan? I can stand inside these areas and be at around 60-85 fps. Move one inch and be back at 380-400+ fps. I asked around and other people had the same thing going on. Keep in mind that nothing changes on screen. Just the FPS super tanks in some places within these areas. I was told by some people that it has showed up recently and that Blizzard “had done some sh*t” or whatever.
Try jumping into the lake at the Draenei starting area… there my FPS drops to under 10!
It’s the midsummer fires that cause the lag/fps hiccups, it ends today.
Semi-transparency effects were always a problem in WoW. Same things happen if you go to a cave and put a “waterfall” in front of your camera view ![]()
Whilst that might be the case, what I’m talking about is really extreme. Like, there is nothing specific going on. It just goes from 400fps to like 60 for no reason. Not many players on screen or anything. Good to know its the summer event thingy then at least.
And what’s your hardware?
I noticed a problem too, riding into Overlook in winterspring. Everywhere else my FPS is 70+ there it drops to 20 in classic tbc, just as you go past the Horde flight point.
I was there to get the spawned sabre on the third animal killing quest.
As already mentioned. The bonfires from the fire festival are most likely causing this. Me and a few guildies tested this out in several locations and we all dropped frames when we went close to the fire.
Funny thing is fire festival ended today and lag is still there … I have been leveling in netherstorm for past few days, and I noticed these lags only just now
Same, I took one alt to different locations where I knew fires were, even died to infinite fire dmg on a fire thats no longer there, killed both my char and my fps
Hopefuly they are gone for real after the server reset.
I didn’t have FPS problems, but I died two times in Desolate till realized what happened.
