Since I’ve seen at least 11 layers on Firemaw when TBC launched this Blizzard post is a bunch of lies. Thanks Blizzard for spreading fake news.
i actually re-read this whole thread so many times, hoping that they are as delayed at an “April Fool’s Joke” as they are at announcing new phases.
COPIUM
I see. So not giving Pyrewood as an option is intentional. By the way I still don’t get why the limitation is in place the other way around.

This doesn’t make any sense to me… For some reason, despite having about 40% more players than Benediction, a SIGNIFICANTLY higher number of benediction players would have to be in open world content all day. Let’s so some quick maths:
T_f = total number of players logged into firemaw
T_b = total number of players logged into benediction
O_f = number of players in the open world (non-instanced) on firemaw
O_b = number of players in the open world (non-instanced) on benediction
P_f = fraction of players playing in the open world on firemaw
P_b = fraction of players playing in the open world on benediction
Thus,
O_b = P_b * T_b
O_f = P_f * T_f
Kaivax himself said that benediction has about 67% the number of players as firemaw, giving us our first relation:
T_b = 0.67 * T_f
From the information presented in this post, benediction having 8 layers compared to firemaw’s 4 layers implies that benediction must have double the number of players in the open world, giving us our second relation:
O_b = 2 * O_f
With some simple algebra, we can therefore work out the ratio of players playing in the open world on benediction compared to firemaw:
Starting from here:
O_b = 2 * O_f
Sub in the first relations above
O_b = P_b * T_b
O_f = P_f * T_f
Giving us
P_b * T_b = 2 * P_f * T_f
We know the proportion of each population from T_b = 0.67 * T_f, subbing in, cancelling the T_f, and rearranging we get
P_b = 3 * P_f
This means, if the information Kaivax has given us is true, that the proportion of players in open world content on Benediction must be THREE TIMES higher than on firemaw… Which, naturally, I find to be highly unlikely. Would the behaviour of players on different realm/continent really vary so much? Do players on benediction just not like dungeons?
Furthermore, let us compare the number of layers around the release of ZA on firemaw compared to now. At the release of ZA, we had around 8 on Firemaw. This would mean, on a phase where the only new content was a 10 man dungeon, double the number of people were in the open world compared to this latest phase, where a significant amount of each players time is spent on daily quests in the open world…? This also doesn’t make sense to me.
So forgive me, if I call you a liar.

Now to the suggested fix, and I have to say… Blizzard, this is all your fault. YOU kept transfers to firemaw open all this time. YOU let servers die. Sure, you can point the blame at players being sheep and piling into one server, while you happily sit back and count all those 10 euro bills - one for each paid server transfer.
But, I will point out the quotes which are brought up so often in such circumstances from Soren Johnson and Sid Meier: “given the opportunity, players will optimise the fun out of a game”; “one of the responsibilities of designers is to protect players from themselves”. It was BLIZZARD’s responsibility to curate the populations and faction balance. I don’t want you to “let players decide”, because they will so often chose what is best for them in the short term, and not what is best for the health of the game. I want you to stand up and MANAGE THE GAME. We pay you 10 euros per month in sub fees, for god’s sake.
I was part of one of the last alliance guilds on Mograine, and I did my best not to be a sheep. But faced with the choice of either stopping raiding, or PAYING to transfer to another realm, I grit my teeth and swiped my card. What realm to choose? Well, I’m not looking to pay you any more for your poor management, so like thousands of other players, we chose Firemaw, which is unlikely to ever reach dead server status. Moreover, I rolled on a PvP server because I like the danger of world PvP. Now, once again thanks to you dear Blizard, there is no longer another English language realm in the EU which offers any semblance of faction balance. And now you’re asking us to leave? Please. I won’t be tricked into paying for yet more server transfers when WotLK classic comes around. Do whatever you can to reduce the queue, and stop asking players to solve your problems. WE ARE PAYING YOU, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
There is prolly more people quitting than actually transferring off.
Amnennar - French server
Mandokir - Spanish server
Patchwerk - German server
Sulfuron - French server
Transcendence - German server
Venoxis - German server
Ashbringer - One sided alliance with not alot of players
Earthshaker - One sided alliance
Golemagg - 85% Horde
Mograine - One sided horde
Razorgore - Dead server
The whole TBC server situation is a disaster thanks to paid character transfers.
So lets take a look at the available options you provide, Blizzard:
Amnennar - alliance barely playable but it’s a french server = unplayable for 95% of all people (because they dont speak french obviously).
Ashbringer - alliance barely playable, horde completely dead.
Earthshaker - horde completely dead.
Golemagg - alliance unplayable.
Mandokir - alliance unplayable, horde barely but it’s a spanish server = unplayable.
Mograine - alliance completely dead.
Patchwerk - alliance dead, horde ok-ish but German server = unplayable for 95% of people again.
Razorgore - dead on both sides.
Sulfuron - not too bad but again french = unplayable for 95% of people.
Transcendence - alliance unplayable but german = unplayable for 95% of people.
Venoxis - decent population but german = unplayable for 95% of people.
So where exactly are you sending people off to, Blizzard??? Once a server dies, it will never regain population again. The only options left are to merge low pop servers (but we all know you won’t do that because it involves you actually doing some work instead of doing nothing and getting free money from the overpriced paid server transfers) or increase concurrent player caps on the big servers + increase number of layers. Nobody is going to transfer to those servers. The current state of Classic TBC is all your fault.
What an absolute joke of a company.
I’m paying for five accounts. Subs run out on monday and i’m not renewing this time.
Maybe ban some of the bots that take up half the spots on the realm?
It’s great isn’t it? People complain about the problem, Blizzard eventually listen and do something then People complain about it again. No matter what Blizzard do people will complain, that’s what I get out of this.
So Dottie. What is this great solution you’re talking about? Offering free transfers to dead servers while also offering payed transfers back to Firemaw?
He’s a low effort imbecile troll who lives on the forums 24/7, don’t give him any attention.
tbh he has a point all the other servers are dead as you all moved here. A lot left perfectly healthy servers behind consigning them to death.
Servers like ZT got declared dead when the pop was 6000 and people followed like sheep and killed it. That probably happened to others too, yet the company is a big part of this problem even offering transfers.
He has no point. Players didn’t invent Paid Character Transfer, Blizzard did and it was the wrong tool, available far too long and with no restrictions.
Wish they’d declare my server dead. Current population is under 500, was once over 9000. Spergs left the server in droves to firemaw even though at the time the server was healthy the decline has been shocking.
Where did I say the solution was great? Some people are so hard of reading.
If a lot of people move there they won’t be dead will they? But people won’t move, they would rather queue for a few hours than chance no one else moving. If someone co-ordinated a move then people may move en-masse.
Anyway after a closer look they haven’t changed a thing have they? This post is just an information post so on that score I was wrong, it’s not new at all.
expecting people to act responsibly? do blizzard need to hold your hand? Expect a company to turn money down due to peoples stupidity? Its a player casued issue now you all cry at the queues which you’re responible for.
Did some take an arrow to the knee?
Server dead? “Transfer!”
Server bustling? “Transfer!”
