Free Mount Is Unfair

Like many others, I pay my subs regularly every month by direct debit. Apart from a couple of occasions in the past where I was unable to play either due to health issues or whilst working away from home, I have paid my subs each month since 2004.

As a 70 year old pensioner, I can’t afford to pay a 6-month sub: anyone who can gets free mounts or other goodies thrown in, yet I and many others, who actually pay MORE than those people, don’t qualify.

Boo to you Blizzard, you miserable, mean and stingy people.

It’s not a free mount, you had to pay for a 6 month sub to recieve it.

This

A 6 month sub is cheaper overall than a 1 month sub x 6; so you could actually save yourself a bit of moolah

Totally understand your reason
And somwhat agree
But look on the bright side: you can have that mount from the shop for 25 moolah… no strings attached and its up to you to save up the 25 over months if you really want it
I will do the same, couple of large meals skipped, tighten the belt and in a few month have my machano-dragon

I will have paid for a 6-month sub come December.

Also, it’s ‘i’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’.

Did you even read the bit where I said I can’t afford a 6-month sub?

is converting gold to token and then back to blizzard balance an option? this way you can buy the mount with gold.

I got Tyrael’s Charger and I don’t even use it anymore. The novelty will wear off and if it’s really a mount worth getting then get it through the other way.

I am like you OP, I pay the 13€ sub every month. I do this because I usually never pay 6 months in a row, I like to take breaks from WoW. I actually save money by paying individual months.
The mount doesn’t appeal to me personally.

You can buy it separately if you really want it, but if it’s not something you’re particularly fussed about (as is the rule of thumb with any store mount) just don’t bother.

At the end of the day it’s a promotion to get the most money out of you and in the nicest way Blizzard aren’t going to care if you don’t want to shell out that much as there are literally hundreds of mugs that will buy it for the mount.

You could get into gold making if you cannot afford a 6 month sub. Running old raids once a week will get you quite alot of gold. All you need is ~350k for 2 wow tokens.

You can use this site to find out about some good raids that you can do. https://www.dataforazeroth.com/calculator. You will get that 350k after 4 resets if you do all raids from cata to legion.

I just took out a 6 month subscription to get the mount. One because I think it looks nice and second to annoy all the people complaining about it.

And whenI’'m 70 i fully intend to have invested in a mobile chair so i can drive around Wal Mart and Publix and generally be a grumpy old man yelling at anyone who gets in my way. I do it now but I don’t have a mobile chair.

OAP privilege!

Maybe you could just run a few legacy raids over those months and get the mount with the gold…you know…instead of depriving yourself

You seem like a wonderful person, if I could justify the cash I’d do that too.

As long as you don’t vote for a moron to annoy / screw over young’uns or anything like that it’s cool.

First off, I agree that these sub mounts should go away. It’s just Blizzard trying to be clever thinking they can get their most loyal customers off their back when they release a store mount and the core WoW fanbase hates it. Giving it to us for free doesn’t justify anything. It’s still the same garbage.

In the meantime, however:
The 6 month sub is cheaper than the 1 month sub if you have a stable income (as a pensioner, you do) and if you intend to pay for every month. Which you have done for 16 years apparently, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Put aside €12 per month into a bank account. You can set it up automatically. Whenever the 6 month sub fee is due, transfer all the money back manually. Repeat.

This is a entirely a budgeting issue. You have the money.
