No, the name is locked to the bnet account for 30 days before it can be used by another player.

Another solution is don’t name your character something you’re not 100% sure that you will keep.

That’s not true. You can make a new character with the same name but you can’t resurrect your deleted character any more because it says that you are already using a character with the same name

The reply I made was to someone suggesting getting a friends help… i.e. you delete the char, a friend then takes the name on a new char, you ressurect your char and get a free name change. This would not work as when you delete a char, someone else cannot take it for 30 days.

Its locked to b.net account. So does that mean that I could delete a character, make a new character on my 2nd account with that name (under the same b.net) and then revive the 1st char and get a name change?

Tbh i think name change shouldnt exist in game.Or it should be limited like once in a year.The roleplay aspect of the game is dying with this feature.

Previously yes, but not anymore. They put things in place to prevent it as it was being used to circumvent name change.

I don’t think it’s a good solution. It would just result in bunch of people stocking up with useless name changes becasue they don’t realy need name changing. You don’t realy need name change that often. Just think of a name you won’t regret, spend some time figuring out what name you want to choose.

think carefully when making a char, I’ve often thought that “smellybum” may have had long term regrets

Just make a second Battle.net account and after 30 days make a character with the deleted characters the name on it, then restore.

It’s easy to change your name for free, assuming you have a friend that can help you.

  1. Delete your character you wish to get a new name on.
  2. Ask your friend to create a new level 1 character with the same name on the server you deleted the character on.
  3. Restore your character using the ingame button where you choose a character, and when attempting to enter the world you will be prompted with a free name change.
  4. Enjoy!

Why are you happy to pay for a service that is completely automated and requires no resources on Blizzard’s behalf? Regardless of your wage, that is just kind of a wasteful attitude.

Just because something is automated doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be charged for. I am grateful we don’t have to wait for a human being while dealing with minor things like name change, faction change, race change, character boost etc.
