NICE choices.
Every time - the most popular option available.
Not the most populair, but the only choices available. They added more realms after those realms were already released and FULL.
That’s not how this stuff works. It still needs to go through a dev and testing cycle. Any modification to the server, which there will have been, can mean it’s not as easy as you are implying.
Obviously it isn’t as /easy/ as I am implying. I have no knowledge of any of that. I can only make assumptions based on the information Blizzard give us. And if they say they rebuilt Classic on Legion hard and software, I as a regular player can pull the assumption that they are more than capable of providing said service on these servers.
On top of that, as I said, in early World of Warcraft, before The Burning Crusade was released, so in the classic 2004 days, free realm migration was a very common practice. It became less common after The Burning Crusade, up until 2012 when they did it again.
If they did it back then, why don’t they do it now? And why don’t they? Even if they can’t do it, it’d be nice to know if they are working on it or why they cannot do it. It’s why I find that a blue post should be made on the subject because I’ve seen this subject come up multiple times across multiple threads.
I totally understand that people don’t want to move. For now they seem to want people to do the moving via re-rolling intead of offering FCM. I also think at present offering FCM will just destabilise where ever they offer FCM to.
They haven’t said they wont offer paid transfers of FCM. Paid would come a lot later when more people have hit 60. For now they’ve not chosen to offer any FCM and all blue posts urge people to move themselves by rerolling on another server.
I do not believe that it will destabilise the target realm. Perhaps faction balance will destabilise. Or a realm that never had queues suddenly has queues. But what makes you think that if people re-roll a level 1 character on this other server, that it’ll be any different?
Other than that, I do not think there’s anything else that could be destabilised at this stage of the game. Ecenomies haven’t been established enough yet to be destabilised. If you can think of something else that can be destabilised, I’d be genuinely interested to know.
And they have urged people to move themselves by rerolling, but it’s quite obvious people who have already spent hours on end into the game on a single character, aren’t going to re-roll again because let’s be honest, Classic isn’t exactly an alt-friendly enviroment. And it shouldn’t be.
Obviously at the time, they were brand new and low? Use your head
No one knows the Alliance/Horde balance of any realm at present, unless new information has come to light that I’ve missed.
I’m not sure how you don’t understand that it will destabilise the destination realm.
If they pick the lowest pop PvP realm to redirect everyone from the busy servers to, via FCM, they may well end up the destinaton realm having unbearable queue due to the sudden increase of population.
By letting people move themselves, there is no huge surge to one realm. They could open a new realm purely for FCM but the uptake unders those conditions ins’t always great due to the risk of ending up on a dead realm when the numbers settle.
There’s already unbearable queues on current realms. If people spread out to other realms that currently have medium population, you should be able to have high population and maybe full on every pvp realm with small queues of maybe 1000 people per queue which is still do-able as it’ll take you only half an hour to an hour in queue. There’s however 4 pvp realms which have medium population on EU alone. If they made free realm migration to all of them at once, from the 4 currently full pvp realms, there would be literally no issue. Besides… what makes you think if everyone had the mindset you have, to just re-roll on another server from level 1 while already having a level 40 on another server, that the target realm won’t have an explosion of population as well?
That’s just the trick, though. Blizzard needs to ensure that they close free realm migrations in time so that not too many people flood the new realms. And friends need to coördinate with each other that they transfer on the very same time as one another.
I have no problem with what blizz is doing (forcing the players to suffer the consequences of their -to be read as blizz’s- bad decisions in one way or another) as long as we get to play. Waiting for 8 hours is not acceptable; nor is daily rerolling.
Exactly. Bad decisions have consequences. But I wouldn’t call choosing a server a bad decision. When I joined Morgraine, it was literally just added to the list while Shazzrah and Firemaw were full. It was the only other pvp server next to 3 others that were already full. I got in without queue. It wasn’t a bad decision on my part. So I don’t think I am forced to suffer for it either.
As I said, my friends are already level 30 or 40. They are not going to re-roll anymore at that stage. It isn’t happening. And if I want to play with them, I will have to stay on their server. Or, we all get to migrate for free to another realm and we get to play together.
There are currently a few realms that still have bad queues, the majority have benefited from the capacity increase and new realms that were opened up, some moved. Some have moved serveral times.
You know nothing of my ‘mindset’, I wouldn’t reroll or take FCM. I have great sympathy for those stuck on realms with huge queues. However I would’nt wish to inflict the long queues on other servers at this point via FCM.
All I have said is that Blizz have not yet offered or said a word about FCM since the AMA. They are encouraging people to move themselves.
My apologies for assuming your mindset. However, my opinion stands that if FCM became available, the load of the huge queues would be shared amongst all servers.
And I know they are encouraging people to move themselves. That’s a thing I did up to 3 times, before finally deciding it was enough and that I wanted to play and commit instead of re-rolling every other time I got into a 8 hour queue.
All I’m asking, is that they let people know what their plans are. What are they working on, what exactly are they doing to decrease queues. Now, people are pulling assumptions and are making threads like these to demand it gets better. Some people are just hoping the hype dies down in a week or two so that they can play. It is total madness.
I was reading another player’s experience of how they were going to play together with friends and due to the server they reserved names on being so busy, their friends group is now splintered and on several servers playing in smaller separate groups.
That is incredibly sad. And that’s how a free realm migration would possibly help them get back together. Or even paid realm transfers would. And that’s how they decided to fix the issues with queues. But I’d never. I want to play with my friends. Doesn’t mean I’m not open to meeting new friends on the way to 60. But I do want to be able to play with my friends. And I just happen to not be the only one.
This is exactly what happened to our real life group of friends … So anoying i really hope they are gonna let us use transfers at this point i’m even willing to spend €20 for a transfer even if it’s their mistake.
100% sure this would be THE SOLUTION! I’m up for this Blizzard!
Char transfers will completely destroy the integritiy of realm communities. It will allow rude players to just go somewhere else, it will allow guilds and future pvp rank players, to join the path of least resistance.
It will also kill the economy of a realm, just imagine if someone just moves with tons of gold to a brand new realm. He can completely dominate the AH there.
Char transfers are not going to happen for a reason, they destroyed a very crucial part of TBC and they should not be a part of Classic ever.
My advice, do not join servers with streamer communities, then you will not have those big queues or any queues at all.
The imbalance you’re speaking of will happen at a later stage in the game. Currently, those issues are non-existant. Rude players can still come to your server, if they restart and make a level 1 character. The tons of gold you’re speaking of is nonexistant because no one has been able to farm enough gold or play the auction house enough to earn those tons of gold.
My server doesn’t have any big streamers. Yet it has queues. Your observation is invalid.
Its interesting to see how high populated realms like Shazzrah or Firemaw forming communities of full “no-life” people. If you meet someone at Firemaw, where I am playing for example, at 9 pm, you know for sure - that person played and/or sat in queue for at least 8 hours, cause if you log on server after 2pm you simply not getting in until next day morning.
In the end, only people who farm like crazy 10+ hours per day starting around 10 am (or earlier) are actually playing on those servers. No place for casuals.
