I was away on vacation and my guild transferred servers while there were free transfers. After coming back to the game I can no longer take the free transfers and I am completely stuck with all of my characters and gold on a dead server.
I was told to pay for a character transfer, but this is unacceptable. Essentially, I am being told to over pay for a problem that I did not create, for a service that WAS free, all to play a few months with the hope that server population does not change again.
Also in the same situation, I come back to WoW and I’m stuck on dead Firemaw (Horde) where all my characters are. I stopped playing for a few months while me and friends wait for the release of wrath only to find that the faction balance has been completely annihilated, which renders the game unplayable as it stands or forces me to pay for all of my characters to move out of pocket, which isn’t going to happen, I’ll likely end up just not playing if they don’t resolve this.
Yes, I am in the exact same situation. It is sad.
Must be nice to have a two month vacation.
It’s a miracle for greedy garbage blizzard to open free transfers for a time period already.
They are not doing it again.

How is this blizzard´s fault ? , if you dont play the lotto and your weekly numbers come up , do you expect to get it anyway ?
Stop this nonsense … you missed it so you missed it… , that sucks but its life ! lvl a new char or pay the 25£ … no bigge we all grown ups with cash !
You must be working for Blizzard to defend their role and responsibilities in this chaos.
There was no communication of this happening anywhere other than this forum. Nothing within in-game mail, nothing on character login, nothing anywhere else. How were people supposed to know?
This isn’t defensible. It is utter chaos and an appalling way to treat your player base.
That’s really the only part I have the problem with, Blizzards communication of the free transfers and the realms closing down.
If Blizzard did communicate it then I think the system would have been overloaded.
Started playing after 6 months or so on firemaw horde. Completely unplayable. 100 horde characters to 14thousand + alliance? I cant set foot out of the isle of queldanis without being exploded in 2 seconds. This is no exaggeration there is no one to play with here. Wtf happened. Why should i have to pay 20quid just to be able to play the game?
