Hello everyone, the issue i am experiencing is that when I am in-game and use the Windows key to go to my browser or something, after i go back to the game it takes about 2 till 5 seconds till the screen freezes. the sound keeps playing, i can ‘press’ the button but the screen does not update. after i use the windows key again and go back in-game, it takes again 2 till 5 seconds for the screen to freeze. This started happening yesterday for the first time.
PS: The game runs at 70fps with max settings
i have updated my Radeon drivers, cleared the cache of wow & choose to repair the game files. Also I tried to set the max fore and background FPS to 60.
my PC:
mboard: MSI Z87-G45
CPU: Intil I7 4770K
GPU: MSI radeon R9 390X 8GB
ram: 4x 4GB DDR3
drives: 250GB SSD (Windows & WoW)
Could you please give running the game in windowed (not “windowed fullscreen”) mode a try, and see if this still happens?
Chances are there is some form of automated performance management/profiling software running on the computer which is interfering with the game by basically cutting off its access to system resources once it is no longer the “foreground” application. Windowed mode tends to circumvent that situation, by virtue of WoW never actually dropping out of the foreground while its running inside said window.
It could also be some form of overlay service (like Discord, AMD ReLive or such) that is basically “hijacking” the display driver, once WoW is no longer the primary application in use. If you have any such installed I’d recommend giving removing/disabling them a try.
My friend had the same problem, he updated the graphic driver and it went away.
