I think Metzen can tell a really good story, but I don’t think he can direct a team of storywriters.
I hope he proves me wrong, but I’m no longer willing to give Blizzard endless second chances. I feel like they have gotten enough of those now, including Metzen. Now they just get the criticism when they don’t deliver.

Honestly caring that much sounds exhausting.
I don’t envy you.
Older expansions were of fine balance between cute/goofy and ‘dark’ swords and sorcery. However, as of recently balance has shifted way too much on goofy/cute side.

Oh I don’t mean written criticism every time. I’ve had an 8 months break because Dragonflight is as mediocre a game experience as dried oats with lukewarm water is a tasty culinary experience.
I’ll just quit when I’ve chopped through enough to conclude that it’s still garbage.
I’m currently chopping through the stuff I’ve missed out on so far, and I don’t like it very much, so I’m just going to quit again when my subscription runs out. That action in itself is the criticism.
Alright, fair enough.
Cheers.
I do. Well not concerning the dragon stuff, that’s crap.
But the walrus people quest was a pleasure to go through. Honest to God. I actually even love hanging around there when I’m waiting for queues. And that soup animation it a joy.
Here’s the thought that always invades my brain when I do quests like those:
Is it Warcraft?
Is it?
Or is it just random fantasy stuff?
Because it feels like it’s just random fantasy stuff. Stuff that Blizzard just shoves in randomly. They could exist in any other fantasy universe and it wouldn’t make a difference. And if they didn’t exist in Warcraft, it wouldn’t have any consequences for the story or lore.
There’s nothing distinct Warcraft about the Tuskarr of the story Blizzard tries to tell with them.
They’re convenient content for Blizzard to make, because it doesn’t require that the developer has any prior knowledge on Warcraft to make up some story stuff on the Tuskarr. It’s all self-contained and generic.
Fair be it if some folks like those elements, like the Niffin, Grummles, Sporegar, or Tuskarr.
But it’s not really Warcraft. It’s just generic fantasy.
You put into words what my feeling has been on it with that post.
WoW’s never been War and Peace by Tolstoy (great book btw) and I didn’t expect it to be. But the storytelling has gotten worse, and in some ways quite bizarre at times. Your conclusions on it would explain well why.

Make way for the revisionists buddy. “It was always a cartoon”.
These are the low IQ people this story is made for.
