Friends in Need. 10 days of time gating 8.2

It’s fine that you don’t care this stuff is time gated.

Clearly you’re all living under a rock, but there are farmable items that award follower xp and rep if you’re THAT desperate that you can’t wait and think that 10 days is a time-gate (seriously, you guys must not have played any of the previous expansions/patches where we got the raid 2-3 months after the content update, 10 days is literally nothing)

Yeah, but how much reputation per hour on average can one get from that method? If you farm mobs for 10 hours, you’ll get maybe 2 of those +250 rep items, or 50 rep per hour.

Getting to Revered takes 18000 rep. You do the math, but farming the +250 rep item just isn’t viable. The only viable path is doing about 1 hour of work in Nazjatar and 1 hour of work in Mechagon involving daily quests and a few rare kills for 1000 rep each.

Farmed for an hour and a half and got 2 items earlier. I also met a guy who had done most of the rares etc and had reached 4k rep towards revered without even knowing about the rep items until he signed up to my group.

As for Rustbolt rep, that really is easy - I’m 4300 rep in towards revered, and that really is just by doing all the dailies and farming the rares. I’m yet to get two blueprints which have a quest for 500 rep each, too.

Well, great that they make it all so clear. I’m sure new players just love wow, can’t play any allied race, can’t fly anywhere where ion touched it, can’t do this or that,

Why should everything be 100% clear? What’s the fun in exploring and figuring stuff out, if everything is given to you on a platter?

It’s literally impossible for any developer to make any content and the player not at least but unsure of some aspect of it. We are not psychic, and some of the fun lies in working things out.

Because it’s just boring chores, there’s no need to also over-complicate it. Besides they’re always crying about new players, hence the scaling, slower leveling and soon level squish, why not make it actually new player friendly. No rep for allied races, no path finder trash and time gated quests, with hidden rep.

What are these items and were do your farm them?

I’ve only gotten 1 but I’m fairly sure I got it from a chest

They’re not from chests. You can get Ancient Reefwalker Bark from the Ancient rares, which awards 350 rep and 100xp to all followers.

Then, ray enemies can drop Fathom Ray Wing which gives 250 rep and 50xp to a follower, as does Giant Crab Legs from crab enemies and Eel Filet from (have a guess). The regular tree ancients also can drop Reefwalker Bark (green version) which gives 75 rep and 20xp to all followers.

if it wasnt for time gates you would get bored instantly after completing the story. Be happy you atleast have a motivation to play the game.

It’s not even a time gate, that’s the funny bit. You can literally farm rep and follower xp items.

They made it this way so you have to log in every day, to drive up concurrent log ins and daily players. So they can report this to the shareholders and activision, blizzard only care about their bottom line now. Not if you are enjoying yourself.

Thank you Zulagain for info. I have been looking all sorts of guides but these haven’t come up! Is it only from rares or do elites and normals have any chance to drop them? I actually got one of those today from rare crab but had no idea there is so many other items too. For me it is game changer cause then there IS thing to grind and that is all i was hoping for!:smiley::smiley::smiley:

Normal mobs  They’re a pain to grind for but they do drop now and again. Not something I’d recommend unless you really are intent on pushing rep and you’ve exhausted everything else (for example, put your time into doing the legendary pet bosses first), but the option is there!

Do the Ancient rares (Kelpwillow etc) for sure though - since getting their rep item knocks off an entire day of grind towards the 3000xp mission. And, since you get 250 rep when a follower levels up, that means the value of the Ancient Reefwalker Bark is actually 600 rep.

Nice, thanks for the extra info. This is exactly kind of thing i was missing for: something do still do if i feel like pushing it after doing dailies and such. Nazjatar starts to look better for me now. I don’t mind low drop rates, that’s part of the good grind
