I’m progressing through Nazjatar and I’m stuck with the quest “Friends in Need”.
Googling it, it seems like it was a time gated quest, to slow progress and I’m wondering if this mechaninc is still in place nowadays.
Do I really have to stop doing anything but 3 quests a day or am I missing something?
So yes, it is still there and still a time gate. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything else. For example, there are lots of world quests available, and there is Mechagon.
But why are you doing Nazjatar and why are you still in BfA at all? You are level 51, so you have bought Shadowlands, so I would expect you to be questing there rather than staying behind in BfA.
Are you doing it for completionism? or for Flying in BfA? or something else?
If you’re doing it for Pathfinder (Flying) you should also be getting to work on those other BfA reputations. It will take you a lot longer to get your reps up than it will to get past this quest.
I just want to progress following the lore, trying not to spoil the story
May I ask if I can do Mechagon without ruining Nazjatar storyline?
It’s not easy to follow the chronological order, the game itself does a very poor job; it’s clear that Blizzard wants me to level to 50 and forgot about everything else.
Yes, you certainly can do Mechagon without spoiling anything in Nazjatar.
Mechagon doesn’t really have much of a story, and once you get there, nothing happens that could reasonably be called a story. The story, such as it is, is pretty much all contained in your journey to Mechagon and your acceptance there. And the end of that story is in the Mechagon megadungeon, and Mechagon never touches on BfA’s storyline again.
But in terms of the Nazjatar storyline, while you can do Mechagon, and you can do world quests, and you can gain rep meanwhile, I’m afraid you can’t continue Nazjatar storyline until you complete the three quests for 10 days with the bodyguards.
That depends how seriously you take your storyline goal.
At the end of Nazjatar (8.2), we deal with Azshara in the raid and N’Zoth is freed.
In 8.3, we deal with N’Zoth’s Black Empire, as it influences Azeroth.
So yeah, if you’re taking your linear story seriously, you want to wait to go through the story to the point where N’Zoth is released before you start fighting him.
On the other hand, are you even going to be able to get the Eternal Palace raid done, in which N’Zoth gets loose?
