Frost Mage design change

Maybe, but I still feel like the spec needs changes, its to reliant on its team since they’ve redesigned it into a support spec.

Take heart we got a buff that actually matters, ray of frost! Frost doesn’t need a rework imo, if they tune frozen orb properly, we’re in for some fun in setup comps. We have insane control over the board, and we may have decent burst now with RoF buff, let’s wait and see how it can help.

Bring back MoP frost bomb combo or riot.

Not if you want to play it in anything other than a caster cleave its not, it doesn’t function well in anything else currently. I would like it to do so like it used to before they reworked it into an AoE support spec in Legion.

Yeah, but thats because melee can have almost 100% uptime with their mobility and have many ways to disrupt casts in the modern game. This is why casters are now far more tanky than in the past and have many instants compared to the past. Or wise it would be very difficult for them to get dmg off compared to melees.

If they didnt design all the classes for meme Mythic+ There wouldnt be this absurd amount of mobility

All the strongest ”casters” are the ones that do very little casting for 90% of their damage: Ele, Fire and boomkin.

Same goes for healers. The main bulk of a paladins healing is from their instant casts and just cycle their mulitudes of defensives.

Same goes for mages i believe? Isnt their meaningfull damage from Orb -> Icy Nova -> Lance into it will full icicles (that do require frostbolts to build). I may be wrong its been a while.

Point being. Its all damn instant, but you dont get to build it up, because one kick on that frostbolt and in this meta you might get dropped real ricky-tick fast like.

I imagine something more along the lines of generating Icicles when someone hits into your Ice Barrier. With a ”cant occur more than once ever 4sec”
Or something.

I think just adding a way to get icicles that doesnt require casting. Or increase so you get 2 per cast?

And add a real damn punch to Frostbolt into a frozen target.

This wouldn’t really work due to needing something hitting you. If they don’t go you in a certain game you basically lose the ability to even generate Icicles. maybe an idea would be you generate Icicles off taking dmg like you said, but also generate them from Frostbolt so if you’re trained you can generate them very fast and getting stopped on Frostbolt won’t be as punishing, but if you are not trained you can spam cast Frostbolt and still generate them while being able to free cast.

I’m not saying I think making Frostbolt an instant is the best option, but its bad that the spec is almost gimped by its need to cast constantly and how easy that is to disrupt through kicks or being forced to kite very often. While many other casters either have on demand dmg or they freely build it up without being able to be disrupted very much.

Oh for sure. I didnt mean you wouldnt get them via Frostbolts too ofc.

It was more of a way to let you have a chance to keep getting icicles while still needing to move because the warrior with freedom just cant be peeled for example.

Maybe get 5 icicles when Barrier breaks, or when a nova is dispelled. Like a small dispell protection, but instead of directly punishing the dispeller, it gives a cookie to the mage?

Oh okay, yeah that works.

Dunno about that one, seems abit to strong. Them coming from taking dmg will already been very fast in 3v3.
