Frost mage huge nerfs?

There is huge nerfs inc to forst and fire mages, this is just wrong the class was performing as it should both in pve and pvp scenarios. With those ‘‘changes’’ you better just remove the class out of the game cause no1 will play it. This is so sad blizz when on 1.0.1 you finally balanced the game now you start tweaking stuff destroying classes and brining new metas (look dks huge buffs). You tend to destroy your own game on each expansion after s2 balancing you always mess things up and we end up with crippled or broken meta class/specs. This must stop. You dont own the game, you dont own us, we have a right as well to decide the future of this game. Mages where fine you where supposed to remove rune of power to increaser our mobility not nerf us to the ground. This is just very wrong and there will be huge impact on the mages to the point they will slowly dissappear. GG blizz you nailed it once more!

This is a bit of a strong statement, but the fact is that they are pushing illogical nerfs.
I don’t follow frost that much, but I don’t understand what fire got. RoP removed, the first round 15% flat damage buff is gone, Incanter’s flow is nerfed to from 4-20% scaling to 2-10%, +halved all stat stacking talents on fire. Our ignite spred target numbers are nerfed to, now we can spred it to 5 targets in combustion and only 3 out of it. They want to force us to play Flamestrike, but flamestrike is not working with kindling or Unleashed Inferno, witch dose not makes sense… If we using Flamestrikes then we will lose a lot of CD.
So they basically do everything they can to make it not fun to play with.
But the S tier SH priest will be buffed again, so dont worry all other classes can be in C tier SH priest and Devoker need more buffs.

Yeap they are destroying mage way to hard. This is just wrong. We are not their property to deal with us as they want, we bought the game from blizz and not from 3rd party websites for a much cheaper price, we pay legal subscriptions 13 euro per month and not from 3rd party websites that pay 5 euro for monthly sub. My battlenet account exists from 2005 and i support blizz since then when i could buy a new account from a 3rd party for half the price but i didnt to support blizzard. You dont have the right to nerf us that hard, we didnt agree to that. This is not what i agreed when i bought the game, this is changing the ‘‘deal’’, so i have every right to react accordingly. I suggest you do the same otherwise blizz will keep on doing whatever she wants without any reason. The guy who thought of that nerfs should get fired immediatly.

I understand what you’re saying and I don’t like it either. The problem is not the difficulty of the class, but if we take the fire as an example, on a +20 key if you have 2 other good dps you dont have time to deal damage. And its just a wrong desingn. On MDI fire is the rank1 dps when the whole team playing to support it, but its not working with pugs. Frost is the same, can deal crazy aoe damage but not whiteout a tank who pullink big enough packs and not moving them every 2 sec. Again bad design.
in 10.1.5 frost will be better if u ask me, but the fire design is still ****.

Basically, mage is still a good class, but only for those who pushing huge keys with teams. Those who playing for fun, like me, im running only 20-22 keys with pugs its just not that good. And that is the problem.
It is not good if a class is adapted only to the needs of the top 0.1%.

Nah this must stop blizz does whatever it thinks fit and a lot of the times they act wrong, the game is perfectly balanced atm yet they buff dks like crazy making them an ultra meta melee class(both forst and UH are getting crazy buffs), they buff guardian druid 6% dmg? Why? you want tanks to be killing machines again? you buff dk tanks and warriors… this makes no sense you want tanks to be killing 2 and 3 dps alone? you buff DH and sub rogue 4% dmg when they already are one shotting people especially the rogues. They buff resto druid 25% ablility dmg!!! Healers are already killing us in 1v1 duel combat or even in arena if we are left alone against a healer we are toast.!!! I mean what is wrong with you people? Who is taking those descision and with what creteria? Who is in charge? Whoever that is you sir you are destroying a fine game. and this will have impact small or big impact there will be.

Then why is it in the official patch notes that they released 2 days ago -

  • All ability damage increased by 15%.

It’s the 5th bullet point down under the Mage section.

I really don’t get why people are complaining, everything looks better than it was, unless you’re one of those people that likes ridiculous burst and then joke damage the rest of the time.

Lots of people dont play ptr, see nerfs and base it on what live looks like and jump the gun.

I dont personally know what mages balancing point of ptr is right now, but ive heard the inital increases were incredibly significsnt, and people saying it was absolutely broken.

Which is terrible. But ofcourse a % of people would have quickly created new mages “ready to be meta”

Why i dont follow ptr, just see what the products like at launch really.

My conversations with the guy writing the APL for the new frost mage were this general direction, yes. Doing like 155k in a 445~ raid setup. Single Target.

Defintly was a significant increase then lol. That seems very high o.o how high are other classes ST in that sorta gear level?

Hoping it isnt going to launch overpowered tbh lol.

Frost and fire initially buffed to ultra overtuned god status, then nerfed by 10-15% to bring them in line with other specs. (both still easily S-tier next week)

How could Blizzard do this??? Why do they hate mages so much???

Of course it writes because the first round was a buff, but then read through how much the fire and frost spells were nerfed separately, and then you will realize that the 15% is gone.
If you read it all the way through, you can see in detail what I’m talking about, not only the first 2 lines matters.

If the class is overtuned as hell, it needs to be gonem

Have you actuallly read the notes?

  • Blizzard is now a baseline spell but its damage has been reduced by 12%

  • Glacial Assault damage buffed by 15%, has a 25% chance to trigger (down from 30%) but only requires 1 talent point (down from 2) and causes Comet Storm to increase enemy damage taken by 6% for 6 seconds

  • Icy Veins cooldown decreased to 2 minutes (down from 3), haste buff decreased to 20% (down from 30%) and now summons a Water Elemental for the duration, that deals damage, has its own abilities and provides a 3% stacking damage buff capped at 15%

    • Icy Veins Water Elemental abilities:

  • Snowstorm now increases Cone of Cold’s damage by 18/36% per stack (up from 12/24%) but now only stacks to 15 (down from 30), so it’s capped at a 540% increase (down from 720%) but each stack deals more damage.

  • Frozen Touch now grants Fingers of Frost 25% more often (up from 20%) while granting Brain Freeze 15% more often (down from 20%)

Downs

  • Lonely Winter now increases Frostbolt, Ice Lance and Flurry damage by 15% (down from 25%)

  • Incanters Flow now cycles between 2-10% rather than 4-20% (50% reduction)

  • Frostbolt damage nerfed by 12%

  • Frostbolt’s chance to trigger Brain Freeze reduced to 25% (down from 30%)

  • Freezing Winds now grants Fingers of Frost every 3 seconds (up from 2) while Frozen Orb is active

  • Splintering Ray - Ray of Frost cleaves 25% of its damage to 5 nearby enemies
  • Coldest Snap - Cone of Cold’s cooldown is increase to 45 seconds (up from 12) but it now afflicts Winter’s Chill on all target hit and resets to cooldown of Comet Storm and Frozen Orb. Prevents Cone of Cold having its cooldown reduced by Time Manipulation, Cold Snap and Shifting Power.

Changes

  • Shifting Power is no longer a capstone talent

  • Summon Water Elemental baked into Icy Veins

PvP

  • Glacial Assault damage boost 50% effect in PvP combat
  • Cryopathy damage boost is 60% effective per stack in PvP combat
  • Ice Lance deals 115% damage in PvP combat (down from 134%)
  • Winter’s Blessing haste increase is 50% effective in PvP combat
  • Frigid Empowerment is 66% effective in PvP combat
  • Spltting Ice Glacial Spikes are 50% effective in PvP combat

It’s largely buffs and changes to core functionality. while half the nerfs are aimed at the absurd damage stacking you can do with Frostbolt against frozen targets.

The key thing to bear in mind that those buffs from mastery are just a base, if the mastery formula is the same, in my 430 gear I’d have a 22% buff to Ray of Frost, Ice Lance and Glacial Spike, and a 33% buff to Comet Storm, Blizzard and Frozen Orb, which are considerable increases alongside all the other changes.

Very good that you summarized the frost changes, but I’m talking about fire.

They do own the game and we have no right what so ever.

But its as good as baseline now where it was a choice node with RoP before.

The talents your thinking of have been reduced to one talent point and been made easier to mantain.

You’re not seeing the full picture. Fire could have done with a bit more work tbh but frost and arcane seem to be in a really good place. Looking forward to glacial spiking my way through a lot of these dungeons, frost is gonna be great for all the boss adds this tier. Flurry > glacial > ray!!

we have every right by buying every single expansion and paying sub for years from the official website and not from a 3rd party turkish account for 5 euro per month. So yes we might not own the game 100% but we have rights as well and blizz should listen to us if they want to keep my support at least, personally i dont like to support a company that doesnt act with reason and gives unjustice nerfs to mages when dk’s are getting overbuffed for reasons i cant really explain.

Mage will be fine. Calm down.

This is a thread about Frost, title says ‘‘Frost mage huge nerfs?’’
