I am saddened to see that frost mage is, once again, at the bottom of the peepee meters. At every start of expansion I hope to see frost mages getting some love, but at this point I’m starting to wonder if Blizzard keeps it dead as a meme. During Shadowlands frost mages did some good damage, but that was only because of the legendaries. I now have to choose between playing a class that I like to play but not get into any endgame content, or reroll something OP to be able to enter into raids and high end M+.

It’s crazy good for open world content like levelling and soloing those elite world quest areas because of all the roots and passive slows.
It’s utter garbage basically everywhere else, you get melted in PvP and end up miles behind in dungeons. If I can go from being bottom dps as Frost to being top dps by a good margin as Arcane, why would I ever play Frost?
Hopefully they take a look at it in the next week or two.

Why not use an iconic crowd control spec for situations where crowd control is crucial?
Arcane is for when you don’t want to control the crowds, but wow them.
Also for when your partner doesn’t like cold hands.
Fire is bae.
I can attest to frost being garbage in pvp except for random bg’s. You arn’t able to get more than 1 frostbolt off to be able to do damage for a spec that relies heavily on casting and gaining charges. By the time you do every other class has output enough dps to melt your health down to 0.
It needs lower cast times for certain abilities to be competative and relying on a 3 minute dispellable cooldown is worthless. With the game filled with 1000 interupts and cc’s a spec that relies on standing still and casting slowly is basically useless. If you have a single DPS on you all your damage turns to 0.
I’m 70 now with full pvp gear and fire/arcane is the only viable option
You’re playing pvp wrong as frost then.
Go full mastery and snowdrift. nova and orb spam ice lances literally all Instant damgage and you can nearly 100 to 0 someone doing a full rotation properly. Go watch mitch Jones if you don’t beleive it he has vods of it, the only spec lacking dmg in pvp is fire right now

I’ve been running glacial with high haste and freezing winds. High icicle generation, and if you don’t get to cast, the ice lances pump really hard
I noticed as well, they keep frost on bottom line in every content. ( pve )
Once it was strong in m+ in last expansion, quickly they nerfed it down hard. not just the damage was taken away but it affected the playstyle as well.
So it s nice if u re able to play both 3 spec. One of them ll be able to perform like other classes.

Yet it was still usefull.
Frost mage isn’t played for the damage, it’s for the CC.
But ppl keep 
on the DPS meters like it’s some form off must have metric.
Even in high M+ keys, if you have a Frost mage the tank can pull double the size, the kiting is so simple with all the CC going on, which makes the dungeon faster as your Destro WL (+other dps) go to town.
(Right now even the tanks lmao nerf pls)
If you ask me Frost does to much damage currently compared to Fire/Arcane.
