Why is this? I get that people say it is easier than arcane so it should not do as much damage but other classes are easier but doing way more damage. Classes that literally have 3 buttons to press and just press whatever order you want you can’t go wrong or just press whatever lights up. This is extremely weak argument that it should not do good damage just because it is easier to play. Going by this logic half the classes should not do any damage then.
Frost is at least 20% behind arcane at the moment. Will this be Dragonflight all over again when frost was literally one of the worst dps and had to wait 8 months for a buff?
Might be unpopular opinion but why should spec do lesser damage if its easier to play what if some people just do not enjoy piano playstyle or tracking 75 million self buffs and cooldowns? Or some people like harder rotations.
Or is it again some E-sports crap bull crap that 99,9% of people don’t even follow or care that if a class is simple every e-sport sweat master then plays that class instead of playing what is actually fun.
Well, i mean that way it rewards people for getting good at a “Harder” spec/class, even though we know that’s not how Blizzards balance team works, but still.
As much as i like Frost, i think it should kinda stay the way it is, as a entry way into a Class and if you want to be better at the Class, you try your hands on the other specs.
BM is miles easier than MM and survival and is getting buffed now. Both elemental and enhance shaman is s tier. They don’t have an entry level dps spec and they are not complicated either. Same for Fury/arms warrior. Both seems to be on top they aren’t forced to play one because the other is 30% behind on singletarget and on and on and on just like mage is.
Mage don’t have a choice. Fire is a disaster and frost is just way undertuned (for how many expansions now?). Arcane is the only option. They might as well remove these 2 specs then.
Honestly this is a disgrace. And we got literally no buff, nothing. Arcane only got a 2% nerf, Fire got a 6% buff which is NOTHING when we are 25% behind. You pay this balance team monthly guys, congratulations !
Again. I’m happy that people enjoy arcane and is doing a good numbers. I’m sadly not one of them (not enjoying the spec).
I’m not saying frost should rival arcane not at all but frost is not rivaling anyone at the moment. As it being said I’m doing decent numbers on frost but that is because I’m playing well. I’m beating many classes/specs in the raid I should not be bating with a way undertuned spec. Definitely low geared and not perfect gameplay but definitely not strong spec on singletarget fights.
1 for example are all these insane numbers of abilties. Its too much. When you have alot of abilities that MUST buff or activate something else in order to do good dmg, and forced into a playstyle to perform well.
Arcane mage is one example here.
“Use ability A to buff B, then use C to activate D then use ability E so you can start use F. THEN the fights starting and now …” Bla bla bla
For me this is just a wierd design.
“Go play some other class.” My only choice ? But I love mages …
It would feel more correct if all classes had some “Most Important Core”, and other abilities where free to use, choices to pump out a bit more - (expert-playing must be rewarded too) - but the “Core IS the class”. And not completly destroyed if only follow that “Core”.
Also think it would be much easier to find a good balanced between all classes if blizzard had such core to work around.
Frost may currently be the go to specialization for PvP don’t forget. The dev team will often switch between Mage specs for top DPS in PvE, this is a little annoying for me personally as I prefer Frost Mage but hey, gear… early Raid release… try and rework the talents maybe you will be able to top DPS in your mythics/raids.
So tired of arcane being unplayable if you dont have a PHD. Can we rework the entire class, arcane just to be super easy and fun and last expansions it been absolutely horrible to play.
Jup, checked the spec also and I play frost mages for like 20 years or so. But Frost mages are in bad spot atm if its about pve. I hope blizzard team sees this also and solves this.
I don´t know if I have “okej” frost mage skill or just simply very bad skill on those other speccs, but I feel I do pretty good dps as frost mage. Sure, I can´t keep my self up with arcane mages with similar ilvl but still it doesn´t feel extremly bad.
But yesterday I tried out arcane and really tried to have track on all important buffs and procs but I performed totally painful bad !!
I have played mage for allmost 18 years and even if I ain´t any close to be an elitist-player it scares me how much a specc will punish you in dps if you miss anything.
I have allmost allways played fire-mage, I simply just love that specc, and I felt I had to give that an honest try too yesterday, again, specially now after the “class tuning”. But seriously … what a f. are blizzard doing to that specc ???
I having hard time to even reach half the dmg I do as frost mage. Do I have to be happy if I keep my self at 1/3 of any arcane mags ??? Just so stupid !
For me it is totally okej to have one specc designed for pro-players who loves the effort it needs, but then your other specc must be in good spot too, so you still have a choice to play with those instead.
haha 18 years as a Mage, then you know how to play the class If the in meta spec is Fire, Frost or Arcane there will always be players who are playing the other spec and still winning games. If you are simply not doing as much dmg output as your would like in one spec and your team mates are not happy with it then you have to switch to which specialization you do more damage in. If you are a better player as one spec which has just been nerfed by 25% overall dmg then you will still be PLAYING better in that spec, in your case…a Fire Mage. Unfortunately, you may lose games though if you cannot pressure teams enough because of a damage issue then again, check your team mates and see what you can do. You want to have FUN and WIN games ^_^…
What help me (or rather are my “excuses”) is that I mostly play solo and simply play whatever I want, without holding back any team-mates.
But I talk about the class here I from a more objective point of view. Anything else would feel unfair, cause I think about all those people who love fire- and frost-mage but feeling forced to play arcane, for reasons like guild-progressings.
But I also agree with you Highpriestss. If you having fun with a specc then you might just perform better then playing something you doesn´t like. And tbh, I have never learned to play arcane well so all comparings I do aren´t fully fair either. I must have the guts to admitt that too.
I will just keep on with the fun and pray to the wow-gods we see a class-tuning worth mention …
