Frost mage sim / single target

Hey so still persevering and determined to make Frost Mage work (its a painful process)

Ran some sims now i am getting near 200ilvl and noticed in the sim example for maximising DPS the bot is casting a blizzard before the Flurry BF proc on single target rather than frost bolt.

Only started playing this year so still working on getting an extra few % out of the rotation and wanted some advice from experienced mages. Is this the correct rotation or is frost bolt better?

what is the Legendary that you have equipped on that sim and what is your conduit? If you have the icelance conduit and the Glacial Fragments Legendary i could imagine that this would enhance your dps slightly.

Thinking logically this is probably the way to go.

Whilst Frostbolt does generate BF/FoF procs and Icicles, if you already have BF proc ready, then any FoF procs you get will be wasted.

Blizzard on the other hand deals 55% more damage than a Frostbolt and reduces the cooldown of Frozen Orb by 4.5 seconds/target over its duration. It also guarantees Glacial Fragment’s proc whilst active, which I think is probably the tipping point for using Blizzard over Frostbolt.

It is interesting, that would suggest its a dps gain to do so before orb too and any time you have 2x fof. That’ll be a pain on m+ bosses.

You really should get slick ice for raid ST though.

Yea running Glacial Fragments and Icy Propulsion, just interested me that it was listed that way. Suppose with Mirrors it stops the possible stacking of Brain Freeze as well? Might try and get used to it.

I don’t raid atm as we only have a little guild of friends but definitely going to get Slick Ice. Is it good to run that on Tyrannical weeks in Mythic Plus or still stick with Frags?

The sim probably also takes into account the fact that blizzard doesn’t consume the winter’s chill effect, essentially giving blizzard a really high crit chance while winter’s chill is up.

Its the same interaction with Ray of Frost while winter’s chill is active. Ray of Frost doesn’t consume Winter’s chill, but it still benefits from it.
