This is such bs, seriously. There has almost never been a time where mage was actually bad. It was either completely fine or (com)busted.

I’d be very surprised if they nerfed Frost, it’s still not very good due to it’s design flaws in the current state of the game. They can put as much damage into Frostbolt as they want, it’s not going to solve the problem.
Blizzard need to realise that throwing numbers at a class isn’t always what it needs, Frost could already do good enough damage, it’s just how it does the damage which is causing the problem.

Frost was always about spamming Frostbolts hoping for Fingers of Frost or Brain Freeze. Nothing changed. Damage comes from weird interraction which is maybe a bug?
If you have Brain Freeze proc and you cast Frostbolt then instant Brain Freeze Frostbolt 100% crits but stacks of guaranteed crit are not used so then you can follow it with 2x Ice Lance and that’s where burst comes from. It is a thing since Legion as I remember that’s how you shattered Glacial Spikes in PvE.
Not sure this is a thing anymore, pretty sure it was a bug.
It is. For a moment in 9.0.5 it didn’t work and consumed proc but it doesn’t now. I played a bit of my mage recently and 100% it is a thing.
Oh wait, actually it was a bug that the Frostbolt consumed a Winterschill stack actually my mistake.
It’s a real shame Frosts on the back foot these days, there’s alot of nuance in maximising it’s damage. You could easily see the different between a good and bad Frost Mage just by the damage they would do. I hope they redesign how the spec deals damage so it function well outside dampening metas.
So yeah, basically if I play Venthyr on my Frost Mage I cast Mirrors of Torment then I cast any spell to consume 1 stack - pop everything and Frost Bolt → Flurry → 2x Ice Lance and someone loses 75-90% of his HP. With my pleb geared Mage I hit 23 k Frostbolts. I can imagine Necro Frost Mage with Kyrian Boomy hitting for around 40 k.

Maybe, but I think Frost loses more than it gains from going Necro or Kyrain. Mirrors helps eliminate the RNG on your go’s and Door of Shadows lets you get a kind of DB sheep. Along with the kick reduction and stacking haste.
Frost damage is fine honestly, it’s just how you build up the damage is the issue.
Yes but I meant Necro Mage + Kyrian Balance Druid. Kyrian Boomy is absolutely broken. You just have to pair it with Necro/NF partner. Necro combination is way stronger of course. It gives passive 8% versa and 16% every minute to both. With trinket bonus it’s around 20% damage buff every minute and 10% damage bonus passively. It is insane.
Venthyr Frost Mage is definetely the way to go for MLD imo but with Kyrian Moonkin Necro is 100% stronger. I’m curious about Frost Godcomp if it would be good. Then probably I would play Venthyr as well.
Overall regarding Mage since I have all casters at the moment. I think Mage overall is the hardest to play has the highest skill cap but also has the highest potential.
In terms of skill cap I’d say:
-Mage
-Warlock
-SP
-Ele
-Boomy
Uhh, not sure I haven’t see the comp at all. But I’m still sceptical about Neco for Frost, looks like you lose more than you gain by playing Necro. But I guess we’ll see, I’d like to see Shatter back (Name of Godcomp with Frost). But I’m not sure it will be good unless the meta moves towards more dampened games.
He said viable. Frost has been viable for almost the entirety of Shadowlands. It’s just fire is stronger.
