Frostbite and Figners of Frost bugged

Hello.
I wanted to create bug report, but Bugreporting - how to! guide is pointing to US froum where I can’t post. Hope this is a good place for posting bugs.

Description: As a frost mage, you should have 27,75% chance to get Fingers of Frost effect or Frostbite effect (or both) but instead you only have 15% to get both at the same time.

Detailed description: Fingers of Frost talent (at max lvl) gives 15% change to get Fingers of Frosts stacks and Frostbite talent (at max lvl) gives 15% chance to freeze the target, but those two allways happen at the same time. You can’t get Fingers of Frosts and not freeze the target or vice versa.
When you get Fingers of Frosts effect, your next 2 cast treat target as frozen, but since you allways get Fingers of Frosts at the same time as you freeze the target from Frostbite, those FoF is usless. Because of this bug, you have 15% chance to get FoF and Freeze the target from Frostbite, and 85% to get no effect.

How it should work: Since FoF and Frostbite are separate talents, you should have:
2,25% chance to get Fingers of Forst and freeze the target at the same time,
12,75% changce to get only FoF,
12,75% changce to trigger only Frostbite,
72,25% to have no effect.

How to replicate the issue: Put max talents points in FoF and Frostbite. Cast Frostbolt at the target. Around 15 hits of 100 will trigger Frostbite and FoF at the same time. Rest of those hits will have no effect.

Can you please take a loot at this problem?

Looks like bug report option in game has not enought characters to provide enought information to explain the bug. Can you pass my post as a bug report?

If theres not enough space, you need to condense your bug report. The developers actually get a lot of information automatically, such as what quests you’re on, where you are etc, so you don’t need to include that kind of information.

All they need is the quest name that your reporting, and a brief description of the bug. For example, they don’t need to know “how it should work”, because… They actually designed how it should work, ergo they know better than you how it should work.

If you REALLY REALLY feel the need to write a War and Peace style essay about it ;), then you can include a link to a forum post. However the blues have said in the past, that they are not allowed to forward bug reports made on the forums, to the developers.

I assume thats because if they started doing that, everyone would be posting bug reports here, and they would have no time left for their actual jobs.

To expand on Trovlak’s quite excellent summary: the most important piece of information about any bug is how to make it happen. Reproduction steps are the A+ gold standard - if we know what makes a problem occur, that’s already half of the way towards a solution as well. As dry as it may sound, if we have to choose between having that information and almost literally anything else - 99/100 cases, we’d opt for knowing how to get the bug to appear in our test labs.

As such, if ever in doubt what to put into a report: something as simple as “I pressed this one button, did that other thing, and then the weird stuff happened” is already great.
