I’ve had it with the matchmaking in Blitz Battlegrounds. Blizzard, what is going on with this algorithm? I queue up, ready to give it my all, but instead, I’m stuck carrying a team of absolute idiots who clearly don’t even know what a battleground objective is. It’s as if the system just throws together anyone, regardless of skill level, and says, “Good luck!”
How is it that I’m consistently matched with players who can’t even follow basic strategies? No one captures flags, no one defends, and they all scatter like headless chickens the moment things get tough. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been left solo defending an objective while my teammates are off fighting in completely irrelevant areas.
Blizzard, you seriously need to revamp the matching algorithm or at least give some weight to player performance, because right now, it feels like I’m stuck carrying clueless players every single game. If this is the “Blitz” experience, you can count me out. We need balanced teams, not a constant uphill battle against bad matchmaking.
Anyone else tired of having to be the MVP every time because of this?
The first round (0 rating) is exactly as you described. After that you will get better teams as how rating works. How would you change a matchmaking algoritm based on human actions?
I get your frustration but I don’t see a solution to this or it would be something like overwatch/rocket league. 5 rounds vs bots and get a rank based on your performance.
I recommend looking for a healer to group up with or a dps player in case you are a healer and making use of the duo queue feature. In a lobby where everyone else is clueless about objectives, having two players hyperfocusing on objectives on one team is usually enough to carry even the most clueless teams.
You will win a lot more and this will make your mmr go up. The higher you go, the more you get players that have a solid understanding of objectives. At around 2.4 mmr you notice that the players in both teams usually know what to do and rarely make tactically stupid moves.
Once you are out of 1,5 hood mmr, you can use duo queue less and get reliably sorted with players who care about objectives when you queue alone.
Absolutely agree with you, but there are about 20% of absolutely uncarriable games no matter how good you are. And these 20% of games make me feel that blizzard puts me to carry these clueless players what also will increase their rating and make them play at higher mmr. Therefore, there are clueless players at any mmr, just higher you go then less them you see. But my main point here, that blizzard with that approach do not respect my time at all. I do not have luxury to play more than 2 hours a day I have a job and family.
GG. Our team had way fewer orb possessions. Nobody except for Rex really picked orbs. Nothing I can do about that. I could have healer picked more, but then even more of my team including myself would have died. Your team had more players that played objectives.

Btw, I didn’t call you a bad bg player. I said before you flame others, achieve something in BGs first. Arena brackets are unrelated and irrelevant for bg players and my arena stats don’t matter for me. For me, Arena is just a cheap way to obtain conquest fast and something to do on the side when I need a change from bgs or to quickly boost PvE friends to 1.6, which I gladly do for them even if it ruins my own stats because I simply dgaf about Arena stats. Or to unlock duelist cosmetics in the past because they were more accessible than RBGs.
My main focus in this game is bgs and I do well in them.
We will meet again soon and might be on the same team, so let’s end this childish rivalry. I don’t want you to throw the game out of spite when you are on my team.
Any chance Blizzard can measure performance of a particular player and adjust gained and lost rating according to the performance. So more effective players will gain more rating and loose less in compare to players who stays afk?
