Full-Fledged Flying Planned for a Later Patch in Dragonflight

I really hope it gets unlocked early in the expansion and not towards the end of it.

Why? I mean if the argument is that it’s about navigation, that’s been solved.

What do you mean “why”?

You can’t use:

With the initial way of flying.

Nor can you use:

Kind of kills the point of even having them if they can’t be used until the end of the expansion.

Maybe because some (me included) don’t want to be forced to do nothing but dragon riding, and use normal flying mounts?

I’m quite looking foward to Dragonriding but it’s nice for those that want to just use the good old fashioned way. Why not both right.

Because of the extra mental duress felt by the anti-flier brigade? Two ways to fly, one available right from the start? Their heads will go :exploding_head: if they haven’t already.

Probably the first time I’m excited for flying in WoW. Anything is better than the static old hovering around we’re used to.
As long as it only affects the way you move around in the open world, it’s probably harmless.

This could have a benefit of encouraging them to make Dragon Riding fun and more inviting than traditional flying.

I must admit to still having some anxiety that there will be quests in the main story that involves having to be quite skillful at Dragon Riding to avoid rocks thrown by earth elementals whilst avoiding winds from air elementals.
Fingers crossed that the skillful Dragon Riding features are for side content like races and obstacle courses for achievements etc.

This is a very good decision, I think.

I thought from the outset that dragon riding should be presented as something fun and different that we’d do because we wanted to rather than something that we resented and did reluctantly because we were forced into it.

As long as regular flying unlocks on a ‘normal’ schedule, I’m happy with this. We’ll be able to have fun flying around on dragons, but also go and get a drink while auto-flying across the continent on a regular mount.

To me it feels like Blizz is force feeding us their new system. What would be the big difference of getting from point A to B on a normal flying mount or a dragon?
Honestly I couldn’t care less about How To Train Your Dragon. Just make it a mini game with an extra benefit.

I think the idea is to make flying/travelling more interactive than it is currently, seeing it’s an expansion that revolves around dragons and flying, this makes sense to me. It’s based on GW2’s mount system which I like personally.
Whether they’ll pull it off is another matter though.

If done right, you’ll probably move faster with the new flying.
