Hi all, be patient for my english, isn’t my native language.
There are many post about a future necromancer class but most of them are really old so I would ask you all: i can hope to see a necromancer class in future?
I rolled a frost mage linked to Maldraxxus to imagine a necromancer. Yes, is funny but isn’t the same.
Speaking clearly in Warcraft lore there are a lot of necromancers/Lich by the Warcraft rts until Shadowland SO why there is no a Necromancer class? And please, don’t say me “necromancer is already in the game is Death Knight” because DK and Necromancer are totally different classes, even they share death affinity.
I trust you Blizzy! Give me a possibility to play my beloved Kel Thuzad (wow’s Nagash)

I wuold love. Regarding old posts about it, were forumers post or some were big boys(wow dev) posts?
I would love to see Necromancer with 3 specs:
-Frost (Lich Form based similar to Necrolords Mage spell) and some shadow-frost magic. It can be similar to old Demonology Warlock where Lich Form would be equivalent of MoP/WoD Metamorphosis
-Unholy - able to summon army of skeletons and skeletal mages (leave abominations and ghoul to DK but skeletons to Necromancer)
-Blood - San’layn fantasy of Blood mage that heals for a cost of his HP that he regenerates with draining enemies blood
It’s unlikely we’ll see that class ever unfortunately. New classes are rare in the first place, and it would be deemed “too similar to warlock and mage”. Plus the ever ongoing whines about class balance makes introducing new classes a real pain.

unlikely, it overlaps too much with DKs and warlocks.

Time and time again this topic comes up, just play UH DK or Demo warlock, demo warlock is quite litteraly a necromancer, only difference being he summons demons, not undead.
Just pretend it’s undead and you got your necro class

Maybe a bit of education?
My main was a lock, so i know perfectly what lock is. Same for DK. If you’re so annoyed because other people ask what they want just avoid to read and answer, i can completely forbear you.
I pay exactly like you so i have all right to ask what i like more.
Thanks

DK kinda fulfills that role already, although something like the D2 Necro class would be appreciated. Meaning a class that has corpse explosion and bone spear.

Demonology has implosion.
Guys demonology summon demons, necromancer undead. Are two things totally different. Demonologist are subduded by demons, necromancers are master of theyr minions ( like dk are).
BUT necromancers are mages, spellcaster from the distance not melee fighters like dk are in wow.

What’s important for each class is to have unique gameplay. The uniqueness of a necromancer can be that he resurrects specific enemies, including elites and maybe some minibosses. So by default it will be pretty weak at the beginning of a dungeon, but by the end it will have a small army of the dungeon’s trash following him.
But if it’s just a demonology with an undead skin, then it’s a no from me.

Blizzard has a hard enough time balancing what we already have… I remember how unpopular Demon hunters where in legion for how OP they where being in PvP. Death knights as well could solo 3 people at once at start of Wotlk.
Dont get me wrong, New classes are always fun and interesting. But I’m not sure expecting a pattern of Number of X expansion should always introduce a new class or race for that matter is the right way to go. Before we know it we’ll have too many classes to synergy balance and all to keep track of etc…

The best necro class is from D2, I remember still when a screen full of skeletons put my framerate down to unplayable

Don’t we have enough Classes where cross-over/similarity exist…?
If Necromancer is to be a non-Hero Class, which of the existing 10 would you propose we remove to replace it with?

Imagine if they make a necromancer class.
Death knights will have abilities taken away, so will Warlocks.
At first I thought you were being sarcastic because DK is the Necromancer class.
But no, you were actually serious.
Why not - it would be “caster” version of DK that fits lore. It would be similar to Priest and Paladin. Both are based on Holy magic but one is Knight that wears plate and other wears robes. I’d love new class to be wearing cloth or mail armor not another leather wearer.
I mean first of all you literally copied every DK spec, and I believe you did so unintentionally. If that doesn’t clue you in on the fact that DK is the Necromancer then I don’t know what will.
WoW needs a new ranged class, but Necromancer is already taken.
You’re right that Priest and Paladin share a similarity in lore but not in game play.
That’s the issue. Game play is more important than lore and gameplay wise we already have a literal Necromancer spec (UH DK) and a spec that plays exactly like a necromancer (Demo lock) by being a summoner caster that uses dark evil magic.
Just as Holy is covered with Paladin and Priest, Necromancy is covered with DK’s and Warlocks.
How unreasonable would it be to posit that Diablo Crusaders & WoW Paladins are - to all intents & purposes - the same thing?
While in the same way that Mages & Warlocks can be covered by a blanket RPG Class of “Wizard”, I can see the link of Warlock to Necromancer; making a WoW Necromancer… unlikely.

I wouldn’t one 100% agree because the theme of the spec doesn’t mean similar mechanics. And similarly to Priest/Paladin interaction it can be different. Why Frost? Covers Warcraft hero class - Lich. Why Blood? Because it covers Blood Mage fantasy and even in BFA Blood Mages a.k.a. San’layn were present. Unholy can be replaced with Summoner. It can have completely different mechanics than Unholy and Demo.
Anyway instead of Necromancer what I’d like to see is Bard class. Mail or Clorth wearing musician whose spells would be based on musical terms. His weapons would be instruments - for example lute, drum or flute and it should have 2x healing spec and 1 dps.
I’d also like to see 4th Earth based spec for Shaman “Guardian” (tanking shaman with 2h). Earth related spells like Boulder Fist or Rockbitter are already in the game.
Inquisitor spec for Paladin - Plate wearing tanky caster with recycling of Exorcism, Denounce, Eternal Flame and few other Paladin spells that got removed.
However I can see Necromancer a good idea if it would use some cool mechanics. It’s like Shamans and Druids are both nature guardians but with good mechanic ideas both can coexist.
Both Necromancers and DKs were big part of undead army.
