Future of Kael’thas Sunstrider

Remember when they first announced the SL expansion and stated that we will be following Kael’s story through Shadowlands? I remember Ion saying that there is a chance he returns with us to Azeroth. However, aside from his involvement in few covenant quests and dailies in Korthia, nothing else has happened with his story arc. Did they abandon it, like so many others?

Here we have an awesome character who was done dirty in the past and I was really excited when they brought him back, eager to see what happens next. Now that we’ve seen the last patch, cinematics and the story, I am so very sad and disappointed to see how they did so little to further develop his storyline.

What do you people think? Will we see more of Kael, perhaps in 9.2.5 or is it over for him aswell?

I think we’re not taking anything out of SL. That skyhole has closed and the devs want to forget about it as badly as we do, if they are listening at all. So the story arcs of SL-characters that are still open are likely to stay that way.

I also wouldn’t expect much story content out of 9.2.5 anyways. They already told us that the main feature of it was to be the faction stuff, and that they had originally planned it for 9.2, but didn’t make it in time. There may be a bit of an epilogue, if we are “lucky”, but I don’t think character plots are in the cards.

While overarching story of SL is not so good, i really like what they done with personal stories of NPC, and it is really suck that it will end without continuation. Also its so hard to care about any following expansion after SL. They only way forward is to continue SL story in one way or another in next expansion. At least NPC’s stories - wise. Also WTF blizzard - you have in-game event - day of the dead - you have expansion about afterlife - connect the freaking dots!!!

I feel like there is so much wasted potential, there are quite a few characters who could be further developed, Kael being the most interesting one IMO. Im still gonna hope beyond hope that this wont be the end for him.

I can’t say I get the appeal. His SL-story doesn’t exactly fit what had been established so far. In the WCIII-era he was just a good guy trying to help his people through tough times. The decision to take up fel wasn’t one out of malice, but one believed to be necessary.

Then in TBC he was suddenly a megalomaniac Legion guy… which kind of makes sense as a “falling to corruption”-story.

And then in SL…we are told that he actually personally was an arrogant megalomaniac who mistreated his people and was destroyed by his thirst for vengeance, with him being as obnoxious as possible about it… And the fel stuff just doesn’t play into it at all. I mean we could certainly have a story about his own responsibility in becoming a fel addict, but we can’t do that without talking about it, can we?

The TBC guy didn’t feel like the WCIII guy, and the SL guy feels like neither of them. Or am I missing something here?
