G-Sync Compatible

hi.
I’ve just added the following affordable hardware:

  1. Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1660 Gaming OC 6G
  2. Monitor: AOC G2590FX (144 hz)

The monitor is a freesync panel, but it’s recently been “approved” G-Sync Compatible by nvidia:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/

Sure enough, in Nvidia Control Panel, the “Set up G-SYNC” menu option is there. I’ve set it “Enable for windowed and full screen mode”.

Also in the Nvidia Control Panel, I turned on Display > G-SYNC Compatible Indicator - and when I use the Nvidia Pendulum test, the indicator displays correctly, and there’s noticeably less tear & jerkiness.

In WoW, I’ve disabled Vertical Sync and Triple Buffering. Display mode is set to Fullscreen (Windowed).

But… when I play WoW - it looks good, but I don’t get the “G-SYNC ON” indicator.

Q: How do I know if G-Sync is working?

I’d appreciate anyone with more experience to comment.

Thanks

thats because by default g-sync doesnt work in windowed mode and blizzard is too lazy to add back exclusive full screen.

to fix it go into nvidia settings>g-sync> and then press something like ‘‘use g-sync in windowed and full screen mode’’

hi Ãve,
Yep, I do have “Enable for windowed and full screen mode”, but still no G-SYNC ON indicator.

n.b Nvidia driver version 419.35

It’s nothing to do with them being LAZY, and everything to do with their DirectX12 licensing agreement with Microsoft which prohibits it, I am informed.

when games like shadow of the tomb raider can do it then yes they are lazy.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider uses a fake fullscreen, that is actually a borderless windowed fullscreen. Sorry.

i see you dont own the game, its real exclusive full screen.
