Gallagio Loyalty rep catch up not catching up

Hey all, so i came back to raiding late this season and i have to say that I’m disappointed by the reputation system catch-up given by blizzard. I started learning about the rep just last week and realized that i cant even catch up till the very end of season if at all. I missed the reset to 9 by blizzard so I’m now stuck with renown 3 which is frustrating, because my raid wont bring me to main raid as i do not have the damage aura buff given by the rep and the only way to catch up to some point is to clear NM/HC to get 2 renown per week which is hilarious considering cap is 12/13 this week. I’m honestly disappointed by the catch up system as this set me back not only for remaining of the season, but also for very start of new season as i don’t get into main raid to get items.

Firstly, if you’re guild won’t bring you to the raid because of a 3-6% dps upgrade you’ll recieve compared to what you already have, you need to wave bye and find someone else, assuming they’re not mythic raiders progressing deep into the raid.
There’s two scenario’s i’m seeing here with your main raid, if they’re raiding mythic and have a full roster, I wouldn’t take you either, why would I? You haven’t been there from the start so in my eyes i’m not bringing you to boost you in mythic.
If you’re guild is raiding HC, they’re egotistical (insert any naughty word here), and don’t deserve you sticking around anyway.
Play NM/HC, catch up in a couple of weeks, learn mechanics, and go from there.
No one likes the truth, but the truth is, you gotta put the time in and effort if you wanna play with the big boys, they’re not going to give it to you for free.

Thank you for irrelevant comment on my topic. Just by how you comment my situation shows that you don’t have the knowledge about how even better ranking guild working inside. The situation is that even if i try to catch up then it would take me more than 6 weeks of clearing all raid including 7 lieutenants which lets be real, no one really killing in PUG environment. So realistically i will not get even 2 renown each week. If you take last season system for example you could just catch up in 2 weeks if i was in same scenario as this season.

Run LFR to catch up

You cant as there is cap in 1 raid for rep per week account wide. There is no way to catch up more than 5000 rep weekly. “his system is intended to allow rapid catch-up to the global cap.” by wowhead. - Meaning you got 1 more renown weekly so yet still you cant catch up if you start late. System is joke to me.

But I thought Blizzard made Raiding as it is to preserve friendships, not break them!

I thought so also… but yet if you start late and still grind out your gear from absolute zero, run over 60 12s to get ready there is still imaginary 15 ilvl difference because i don’t have reputation.

5000 is 2 renown levels. Yeah your behind but the catch up mechanic is there.

I think the issue there isn’t that there is no catch up, but rather that the one we have is pretty weak at it.

With the current cap of 13 it means you need to do 2 reknown levels for almost 7 weeks to catch up. That for a catch up system is incredibly slow.

I understand that they do it because the raid has cosmetic rewards and conveniences attached to it, but then tying performance boost to it will just end up with situations similar to this happening.

Perhaps a way they could fix this by decoupling the damage increase from individual unlock to instead be a raid-wide one in a guild. If the majority in the raid group is from the guild then if one in the raid has the bonuses unlocked everyone else gets the bonus.

So completly screwing over LFR players?

Why so? They still get to keep things the way it is now, but those in guilds can still jump in even if they arrive later without being blocked by a, now 12%?, power gap that they cannot work down for a month.

It is not like power difference that can be reduced with gear funneling.

So do you want to keep the buff in the Renown track or remove it? You are saying 2 diferent things.

My suggestion was merely to shift the damage increase portion to being a guild group-wide accessible feature. I did not say anything about changing the formula for LFR or pugs. It would also not invalidate the individual unlock requirement, merely that in a guild group the highest damage buff applies to everyone.

Which sentence of mine got you to the conclusion that I am screwing LFR over with this?

I think the power rewards from the renown mainly exist to penalize people that started late. And while it’s true that as a whole it’s not that powerful, there’s no reason to drive players against each other even further.

This part, you mentioned removing it from the unlock and making it a guild wide buff. But you claim it wouldn’t “invalidate the individual unlock”

In a guild, which I figured is a good enough pointer that it would only work like so within a guild environment.

The OP’s topic is about him not being able to catch up fast enough in a guild and thus he cannot join raids, so my solution was aimed at that specific problem.

I do not see a need to remove it in a pug/lfr environment as that means taking it away from those groups.

Well its 15% damage aura buff, not sure if you realize how big a difference it is if mirrored to ilvl. That’s same if not more than hc geared compared to mythic geared character and remember also that i didn’t include even damage reduction in. Jump is just massive.
