I know everyone has had problems with the talent “Animal companion” for BM hunters that is supposed to let you have two pets at the same time. But from reading other posts most people seem to only have problems with pathing and the ai and minor summoning issues.
On my hunter it’s almost impossible to use this talent. I know that we’re supposed to put the one that’s summoned automatically in the first pet active slot and then just simply summon whatever pet we want with it. Sounds simple enough. But it doesn’t work.
I’ve never succeeded even once in summoning two of the same pet types even though I own two copies of the same one. Also, I’ve never been able to summon two pets UNLESS if one of them is exotic. Is this a glitch or is that a weird, hidden rule from blizzard? One has to be exotic? I’ve also never been able to summon two exotic pets. So one has to be exotic and one not? This stuff is confusing af.
I just get the error message “You must dismiss your current pet first” all the time trying to summon a second pet.
Even when I follow those “rules” and try to summon one exotic pet and one regular pet I still often get the error message.
I’ve never seen anyone have this problem so is it just me? Or am I just too stupid to understand this talent? It looks to me to be a gamebreaking bug as it is now.
Animal Companion calls the pet you have placed in the first slot in your stables(accessed when talking to a Stable Master). It does not summon one of your active pets(the 5 you can bring with you).
Yea you’re understanding the talent wrong.
“Call Pet additionally summons the first pet from your stable.”
So if you call one of your 5 pets, the one that’s first in your stable (talk to a Stable Master and make sure there actually IS a pet in your stable) will automatically appear.
The talent reads “additionally summons the first pet from your stable” so I thought it was the pet that was first in the active slots. The one that is called when you use: “Call pet: Summons your first pet to you”. Lol.
Thanks to the people answering! Seriously, I was so disheartened that my hunter was “glitched” and blizzard would never respond and I would have to make a new one from scratch :’)
As for what others have said about the talent, I agree that it does leave some things to desire.
Hopefully in the future the devs turn this talent into a baseline passive choice that has nothing to do with adding more damage, but rather becomes a passive which allows us to manually call 2 active pets at once(each doing 50% of normal damage, 100% if you only use 1 pet) and both perform the same attacks.
It wouldn’t fix everything but it would take away some of the issues.
