Game can't launch from client after patch

Hi! Is anyone else experiencing the same issue after todays patch:

Ever since installing the latest patch of today (2024-09-06 EU) I have not been able to launch WoW from the Battlenet client. The ‘Play’ button changes to ‘Launching…’ for a while, but then returns to ‘Play’ without anything happening.

I have tried to run the wow.exe file directly, and then I get the error message “Invalid access to memory location”.

I have tried several help threads without success.

I have tried the following solutions:

  • Updating my drivers
  • Reinstalling WoW
  • Made sure it’s installed on my SSD
  • Reset in-game settings
  • Scan and Repair
  • Made WoW launch using DX11
  • Double-checked my monitors are connected to my GPU
  • Checked PC requirements using systemrequirementslab (passing at least the minimum requirements)
  • run the sfc/scannow command, without result

PC specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
RAM: 8 GB

Seems you missed out the #1 most basic step.

Try without your antivirus program running.

Got exactly the same problem. Tried pretty much the same steps. Nothing helped.
