Earning Echos of Ny’Alotha

I have just reached Rank15 Cape… +50 corruption resistance.
The cloak cap this week is +98 corruption resistance…
98limit, minus my 50 Resistance = 48 further resistance points available.

Malific Cores grant +3 corruption resistance, and cost 2000 Echos.
48/3 = 16 Cores required to catch up to this week!
16x Cores at 2000 echos each = 32,000 Echos. (Damnnnn son!!)

Then there is earning the corruptions to wear; to use up your resistance…
Currently I’m running at 25x corruption (ive been farming echos for a while already… To maximise my gear, I want to run another 12 corruption or so (+~37), so that I stay below +40 (Thing from beyond).
48 corruption able to gain via malific cores, Plus another +12corruption on my current gear = 60 points available to wear, further…

Stay with Me…

9% versat costs 15x resistance points and costs 4125 echos.
60/15 = 4.
4x 9% versat corruptions costing 4125 echos each = another 16500 Echos!

THATS A TOTAL OF 16,500 + 32,000 = 48,500 ECHOS Required… to catch up to players, for this week!

To put this further into perspective, lets continue…

Let’s say you earn an avg of 80 echos per arena win…
48500 echos to farm / at 80 per win = 607 wins.
The ladder tries to keep you at 50% win rating(?)… so thats 1214 games need to be played (607@50% win ratio = 1214 games to play!).

Lets say each game takes 5mins (300seconds), incl queue timer & hoping you find a group quick…
That’s 300 sec*1214 games = 364200 sec… 6070min… 101.16 hours… 4 whole days 5hrs arena farming time!! Just to catch up & be on a ‘fair level’ with other players…

Please fix this issue. Grant me more echos as a catch up player, or make the Malific Core from Mother grant +30 resi. Something has to change!! This is a huge mountain to climb to catch up & is very off putting… I feel like quitting because I am just too far behind.
I am able to play 2-3hrs per day, I really feel for other players who can commit even less!

… Not to mention at the same time as all of this… I am still trying to gear! So some corruptions earnt will need to be replaced too!!!

I also need to be farming Coalescing Essences OR SPENDING MORE ECHOS (vessels)… to enter the Orgrimmar/Stormwind Visions to gain mementos… to buy sockets!! Being able to socket 550 secondary stat with %stat boosters is a huge advantage to other player!

Realistically my character can never become competitive in PvP at this rate.
Something has to change!

I made a ticket but the game masters couldn’t help either:

I read over your ticket, and it looks to be in regard to the whole catch up mechanic for 8.3. I know where you are coming from as I swapped from a resto druid to my usual main, a shadow priest a couple months after 8.3 dropped. It takes a long time to catch up currently, but as Customer Support we don’t have any say in the game development. I do recommend posting your ticket to the forums as it is a good way to show how much it takes to compete with the best right now. I know I have picked up 3v3s again and you NEED those sockets, corruption and resistance to really push rating. It’s extremely overwhelming lol.

you forgot that you cant catch up, you can only have 6 corruption per week, 3 for weekly 3 from last boss raid pve. you cant catch up.

Im doomed too brother. I have 2 hours per day and i must admit that your post finally convince me to stop playing max lvl content. Thanks you saved me a lot of frustration.

I will use this 100% xp buff to exp paladin which is only character i never played.(because im horde jk) then i will finish some 100 chars i have. Lets see …

Yea I am doing legion artifact weapon tilts, done warrior class campaign now onto hidden one. I did all with shaman and dh so far.

Yes, you are absolutely right. The amount of time it takes for players that come back to the game or alts to be on a somewhat acceptable level is ridiculous. Blizz clearly does not want you guys to pick up WoW again… At least I don’t see any other explanation. :man_shrugging:

I’m that person who can even play less then you. I like there is so much to do and it’s kinda the wind that keeps me going but at the same time, if I compare myself to geared people I’m still that paper bag drifting away

Thanks for the responses, All!

This started out as an In-Game Ticket, to which I was told they could not help.
I have brought it to the Forum as advised… but still no change or response to give us at-least some ‘hope’ of change.

With Shadowlands due in a few months I have really little hope of a better catch-up mechanic coming…

  • I can’t bring myself to farm the dailies for coalescing essences --> to farm visions --> for mementos --> to earn sockets (after doing it for months on my previous toon)!
  • I am also not wasting my life farming PVP uncompetitively for 4.5days solid for echos (because lets face it, there aren’t enough echos available from the daily cache/raids/& battleground will take even longer!), AND to also potentially have wait for my preferred %Versatility Corruption to be available for purchase, so that I can actually start pushing my PVP rating!!!

Southpark made a joke of players endlessly farming bores in the forest… the reality of gearing/catchup this patch is so much worse!!

It gets even worse. If you achieve a character with Rank 15 cloak + Max Resistance but you only focus on PvP, or you’re more casual you’ll be around 470-477 IL. Thats doing a mythic +15 every week and capping your pvp around 2100 rated… Takes months but its achievable.

Now - your hardcore mythic gamers rock up with 480-485 IL… this used to not be so much of an issue, you’re slightly on the backfoot. As with Titanfordging, (although a broken system if you’re not lucky), you could get lucky and achieve great items which pulled you up to their level gear.

Corruption is different. It multiplies Item level by the damage you can do.

Example:
Your 470 Gamer has a 100k gush.
but your 485 gamer has a 150k gush.

Yet your healing isnt scaling like that… making it impossible to outplay/heal.

Summary:
I never thought i’d say this, but Titanfordging is LESS toxic than Corruption.

It’s a fun idea with the current patch but it literally makes no sense.

They removed the old talent trees because they were hard to balance.
Everyone kicked off because they got pruned.
Then every expansion since they’ve added RNG gimicks.

Azerite neck slots. X1000’s of options
Azerite Gear. X1000’s of options
Corruption. X1000’s of options
PvP Talents + Normal Talents

… Its a nightmare to balance, and thats why i will be quitting.

If i want to play an RNG game, i’ll go play Candy Crush, because thats how fun this game is right now.

Calculating how much money i’ve spent on wow subscription alone: =£1,790

Y I found it funny they ‘’ can’t ‘’ balance specs between them but they have no problem to add 1billion random procs/mechanics and pve trinket xD

Well in SL you have to farm covenants and legendaries. Legendaries will be probably acc wide (currency for them.being able to send by mail or other way idk but thats what i was told) but covenant and talent tree aka soulbinds not. Also you cant change covenants which is very scary situation for minmaxers.
Imagine you choose best covenant for your spec and its worst for another spec of your class or blizz nerf it to the ground - np mate just roll new char.

i’ve been following the soulbinds on youtube, aparently their real pain in the A$$.

And yes, dont you worry about that Covenant abilities will be super strong in the first few months, you’ll grind that faction and max it out. Then the second patch will release and will be nerfed batted out of the park rendering your covenant useless in pvp.

Sure PvE is quite MinMax vibe throw loads of rng i dont care the boss has billions of HP its fine, it works. But in PVP it doesnt…

You cant use BL etc in pvp (unless enhance) so why use Azerite traits, necks, coveanents, soulbinds ???

they dont make it easy on themselves do they…

Glad i’ve not brought the prerelease for SL yet.

To get atleast the slightest hope of getting noticed on forums you have to do two things.
First you need to go to the US forum. EU forum is a dead end.
And secondly you have to go to “in developement” section “classes” and pick “FEEDBACK: druid class changes” and post your complain there. Because it seems thats the place where the whole developement team sits.

echoes are bad but the real pain are the sockets, I agree.

5 masks are easy but time consuming, boring and annoying.

5k per vision = 5 visions for 1 socket.

9 sockets required = 45 visions with 5 masks.

1 vision takes about 30 mins (give or take) that is about 23h straight hours of vision game play.

now you need obviously 450000 vision material to actually enter this crap.
basic assaults will net you about 20k per week just to keep it minimalistic as I usually do it
22.5 weeks to earn 450000 visions

lucky for you while doing this garbage content you also earn 28125 echoes.
Unlucky for you is that you need a lot more echoes than that as stated in OP
