For the last week or so, I’ve been having a problem when playing, and that is that if I’m on Discord with friends and I’m playing WoW, it often happens that my friends complain that they can’t understand me because my voice starts chopping up as if I have a very high latency. But at that moment I have 50ms latency in game and on discord and FPS in game without any problem 300-400. Basically after that, voice chat on Discord is unusable as no one can understand me.
This problem only occurs in World of Warcraft, I haven’t encountered the same problem in any other game I play. And even in WoW it’s only been happening recently.
Any suggestions?
EDIT : i must say that the problem isnt only on Discord but on Teamspeak too. So its not Discord problem
Thank you for the tip. But the internet speed is not the problem. I have the impression that the problem is directly related to the audio, since when this problem happens the latency doesn’t even increase and stays the same 30-40ms. I honestly don’t know where to find the fault since in no other game (CS:GO, Valorant, PUBG, Rocket League etc.) does it
If you think the problem is related to the audio subsystem, you could try turning all of the WOW sounds off and see if the Discord problems go. If they do, start turning the various sound options on one by one to see which is causing the issue.
I remember years ago that Reverb could sometimes cause issues so that might be a culprit (as an example).
Also try turning down the number of channels WOW uses, and the size of the cache it’s using if none of that works.
You can see all of these options in-game by doing:
