Game crashes with #138 error

I’ve been experiencing this error for around two weeks, usually happens while loading screen, but today happened a few times during just staying in the city.

I’ve updated graphic driver, BIOS. I also tried to run WoW without addons, tried to reset graphic settings to defaults, and also switched to DirectX11, nothing seems to work.

My laptop is Lenovo Legion 7 16IRX9 which I’ve been using for playing WoW since september 2024 with no issues till now.

Are you using an Intel 13th or 14th Gen I9 processor?

if so you may need to update your BIOS to resolve ongoing stability issues with these CPUs.

If think you may be affected - you should contact your PC vendor/motherboard vendor will be able to provide the required update.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve already updated BIOS, but it didn’t work out, and yes I’m using 14th gen i9 processor.

Same issue here. It’s gotten far worse with the last hotfix.

Does anyone else have this issue? It’s become even worse today, a week ago or so I only had this problem when I was loading off arena, but now it can happen in any moment.

I am not having it when idling, walking around or roleplaying.

The crash occurs when I am loading into a character, into BGs, areas etcs, or when I am interacting with the UI in any way.

  • I am playing on dx11
  • advanced work load (etc.) is disabled.
  • render scale is at 100%.
  • GPU drivers are updated.
  • temperatures are normal.
  • intel speed shift and speedstep are disabled
  • overlays are disabled.
  • no addons other than TRP3.
  • UI has been reset.

Yeah, sounds exactly how it started for me, first it was just crashes during loading screen, but now it happens after 5-10 mins of playing. Hopping for a fix or at least a comment from CS.

i have the exact same thing… none of the mentioned reason for this to happen seems to explain it for me - it can happen randomly… also when just standing still doing nothing in dornogal

These crashes never occur when I am idling, flying, walking, roleplaying or when I watch others roleplay. I have been online for 4 hours doing this, and no crashes occurred, but as soon as I swap characters, load into a BG, open the map a few times, or use a vendor, the game crashes with an access violation or, lately, with a divide by zero error.

Fighting in BGs also never led to crashes, but loading into them or exiting them does.

did anyone has some solution for repeating chrashes or can analyse the log files?

My game is also crashing since months periodically between every minute till some hrs between crash

reinstall Yesterday and after reinstall nearly 30 crash with “Exception: 0xC0000094 (INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO)” within 6 hrs

some weeks has started with “ACCESS_VIOLATION”. I run BION Upgrade, open game without AddOns, run with and without Background applications … All was not working stable

Game crash on different Actions: e.g. loading a char, change Location (use homestone, entering dungeon or raid…), during normal fights

My system:
CPU: i9-14900KF
Nvidia RTX 4070Zi
64 GB RAM

note: was playing plunderstorm for 2 hrs with no crash

I decreased Performance Core Ratio by 2 and Efficient Core Ratio by 1 a few days ago and crashes stopped, but today when I was kicked off the game due to being afk the game crashed again when I tried to log on the character, but this time it was 132 error with message “memory could not be read”, no idea how to fix this one it only happened once as of now.

A better solution is to limit the VID (max) voltage to 1400.

This will also prevent further damage to your system.

Your processor is degrading/damaged I went through exactly the same and only decreasing performance core ratio helped for a few weeks/months until it started all over again, ultimately I contacted intel and got it RMA’d.

Funny thing tho is that I bought a 14900k before the RMA and that one started to give me some memory errors too in wow (still rarely) but not yet any division by zero.

This doesn’t solve the issue. You need to cap the voltage.
