EDIT:
Enabling Variable refresh rate in Settings > Display > Graphics settings fixed this issue for me, alternative fix is to disable gsync, so culprit is probably gsync.
- It happens only on dx12 after prepatch, dx 11 is fine
- I reinstalled drivers after completely removing everything with DDU
- Windows is freshly installed, Win 10 latest version 20H2
- I tried closing all other programs like razer synapse, discord, iCUE, disabled geforce experience overlay
- Tested with latencymon, nothing happens when game freezes but i checked task manager and cpu / gpu usage for wow, it drops to zero when freeze happens.
- If I alt tab quickly again game will restore, if I wait few seconds my display driver will crash and restart itself . From event viewer: “Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered”
- I really dont know what to try anymore and I need help, but like I said it started after prepatch, also I completely reinstalled wow because I wanted everything to be “clean” before SL, WTF folder is new, I didnt copy or backup anything from old wow installation, everything is fresh.
