Since the update on Wednesday, WoW won’t launch from the app. I’ve tried the Scan and Repair, but it still refuses to launch. I push the ‘Play’ button, it goes grey with ‘Launching’ for a few seconds, then goes back to ‘Play’ and doesn’t do anything.
Most likely the “wow.exe” process has got stuck and is preventing another from being launched. Searching for it in task manager, right clicking on “wow.exe” and using “End Process” will get rid of it - as will rebooting your PC.
Launch game directly from its folder it will get the error invalid acces to memory location, its trying to reach a file that does not exist probably missing you may need to scan and repair, the error does not pop up if you launch from launcher.
After you scan and repair it may not launch again but the play button will change into update since repair will have deleted the original wow.exe file after which it should launch again.
Looks like Blizzard is learning well from Microsoft to deliver corrupt patches just like Windows Update randomly corrupts windows files requiring sfc /scannow every couple of updates.
