Step 1: cogwheel next to Play button, show in explorer
Step 2: find right install path (classic for mop)
Step 3: turn off wifi/internet
Step 4: launch using explorer
Step 5: client should open, now you can activate internet again and log in directly on clent.

That appears to work for me as well. I’m assuming the log-in process has been misconfigured in some capacity.
I’m also assuming we need to wait for the yanks to get into work for a fix or any comms whatsoever.

Hi, I GOT A FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME. Classic ERA would launch but MOP wouldn’t.
Go to COG → Game Settings - > tick “additional command line arguments” and type -d3d11 (so that’s the minus sign followed by d3d11).
This forces directx11 apparently.
Hope this helps some folk.

Ah sorry, it worked for me, so you definitely have “-d3d11” without the quotation marks?
There are quite a few variations of workarounds people have found for this problem. But in essence it’s a problem without a doubt on Blizzard’s end. They basically didn’t live up to their responsibility of ensuring compatibility with various softwares, including different software types, so every workaround people have found have been by messing around with all kinds of software tips & tricks.
So there is no universal solution for this yet. Some workarounds have worked for some people, while they haven’t worked for others. Some show different symptoms, like the game clients unable to launch not being the same as some others, and so on.
You can count on it being a mess until they fix the core of the issue, which is Blizzard’s own software.

I open retail in bnet and when im in the char selection i can open mop classic in the app. nothing else works for me

Worked now, after closing update agent and that line of text. Yeah of course without the quotation.

Maybe this is a solution to someone’s problem. But I don’t understand it very well. Therefore, before I do these manipulations, I’ll think five times whether I really want to play this.

Not working here. On a Mac. World of warcraft icon keeps bumping up and down, but game not starting.
