Keep in mind that there is no universal solution to this yet, and people have found different solutions for themselves while for others nothing has worked despite trying the same things.
But what the person you replied to was doing, was to essentially launch it in offline mode, meaning it wouldn’t try to log in automatically upon launch and by launching it from the .exe it’d not be tied to the bnet app.
Because one of the shared traits amongst all error reports about this mess, is that the bnet app can’t launch the wow client(s) properly. Which is what that person explained how to cut off the link when launching.

Hey Yryadorne, I see you’re locking and merging threads. Might we be blessed with an update as to what on earth is going on?

At the very least the fact that they’re merging the topics to this large one from a month ago where they specified the thread was being monitored at the time (a month ago) for active troubleshooting, likely implies that they’ve reopened the investigation and have decided to keep it within the same thread from a month ago in order to provide the entire case history as it seems to be connected somehow.
Hello everyone
Just chipping in to say that the issue highlighted in this specific topic was resolved roughly a month ago, and posting here for a new issue - albeit very similar to the original one highlighted here - is not ideal. For future reference it is always better to open a new topic instead of posting on a thread that has been inactive for days or weeks.
That said, I want to confirm that we are listening, and this is being looked into already

Keep pressing play then close the excess ones theyll eventually all open😂

Wait, what? Then what was the point of moving the topics over to this thread where you say it’s not ideal to continue posting about this problem? Seems extremely counterproductive.
Thank you for confirming this! It’s absolutely vital that problems as large as this, ends up on the list of known issues in order to highlight the awareness of it happening.
However, don’t forget that moving it all here was counterproductive if you want people to continue discussing and reporting their trial & errors. If you want everyone to be quiet, then I guess this move makes sense?

Same happening here. After about 10 times hitting play, it worked but yeah it opens all the other ones

Partially it is, but given the amount of new topics opened along with the amount of new replies here we decided to merge everything here to better keep track of any kind of evolution of the problem as it would be easier in the long run compared to either move single comments around, or have multiple topics.
It’s not an approach we take commonly, but this time it’s the faster and better approach for reporting and tracking purposes
Same here since last night - did all the things recommended in other places, dx11, scan repair, firewall, nothing works.
If I wait about 10mins it does indeed start up as others have mentioned but that’s hardly user friendly. I see this issue has been recurring over years - time to fix this issue blizzard!
WoW main game still running as normal btw.

But at the same time you said it’s not ideal to be posting about it here? So it seems like it was done for the reporting & tracking purposes of posts already made about it, instead of tracking new posts after this.
Anyway, I hope you see why I’m calling it counterproductive if this is not the ideal place to post about it. You’re either discouraging further discussion and reports about it here by saying so, or you wanted to say people should continue posting and reporting about it in this thread even if it is not ideal for you on the Blue side of the line.

Same. How does this issue keep repeating. I mean, I know why, but still. Get better coders FFS.
That’s… that’s the response we’re getting today?
Brutal.

There was a similar issue a while ago.
Basically close Battle.net
Go into the Task Manager/Activity Monitor and look for the Battle.net Agent. it might just be called Agent.
Close that, and that should help.
I’ve been in MoP for a couple of hours now. But it cost me at least half an hour of dancing around the Play button.
that is what happens when microsoft buys another corp

Well I’ve sat for 2.5 hours waiting for the game to launch. It was in the Task Manager the whole time but never appeared in the taskbar.
I have tried the various fixes that worked for others in the past, including myself:
- Launch in DX11 mode
- Cleared WOW Classic cache files
- Cleared Battle.net cache files
- Rebooted numerous times
- Performed Scan and Repair numerous times (this is only available before a game launch is attempted)
- Kill the World of Warcraft process in Task Manager and try again
- Kill the Battle.net update service in Task Manager
- Launch other WOW variations (SOD, Hardcore etc)
- Disable Windows Defender Firewall
- Disable all addons (remove Interface and WTF directories)
As it currently stands, I have been trying for just over 3 hours and the game will not launch.
I’m on Windows 10.
