I’m having an issue that has been going on for 2 weeks now, just finished with the pathetic customer support ticket who answer was to go and ask in the forums SMH so here i am.
From the blizzard app i click on the blue play button on mop classic and it says launching briefly and then nothing happens, if you go into the task manager you can see the game running on there but is taking up next to no cpu etc, it just sits dormant.
I did have this problem back in wrath for a small time but opening several instances of the game would force it to open and then i could manually close each version of the extra game but it doesn’t work now.
If i change to classic era on the other hand, it will open and play that version of the game so i’m at a loss at what to do and praying that someone can help.
I’ll list a few things that i have tried already and if anyone needs to extra info then just ask and ill do my best to tell you.
I’ve tried resetting the router.
Flushing the DNS.
Checking in my windows defender firewall and network protection settings although there quite a bit in there im not 100% sure on.
I tried deleting the battle net folder and then opening the app for it to put a new version of it in there.
A few other minor things but that’s all i can think of at the moment.

::EDIT:: Fixed it finally after 10 hours of literally trying every suggestion on the internet, it seems that i had an old antivirus piece of software that wasn’t even running anymore but i just straight up deleted it and after that everything loaded up fine.
I don’t know whether it was this teamed with everything else or it was just that but if anyone reading this has the same problem try checking your antivirus software, hopefully it works and can save you all the hours that it took me to find it out.

im pretty sure i did, i looked over it a few times and it seemed resonably easy to follow, i did notice this was for retail and not for classic although i cant imagine it makes a difference, i currently don’t have retail installed unless that makes a difference?
One thing i cant understand though is why it will load up classic era fine but just not mop classic
no, i did it for classic anniversary and for MOP when it didn´t work.
there are different exe files for each expansion
yeah i checked it and did this several times and still nothing, im really at a loss because when this happened in wotlk i just opened several games and it loaded them all up after a few minutes and then i just deleted the ones that i didnt need, i think ive seen every single post on this on the internet lol and tried everything but nothing works that i can see, did you have any issues when it loaded up where you had to wait for like 10-15 minutes because i also saw that on reddit a few times.
have u tried re-installing? and deleting all the cache files etc before?
I have reinstalled mop classic and reinstalled the battlenet launcher and deleted cache and wtf files, i dont actually have chache and wtf folders anymore in the mop classic folder since after i deleted it ive never been able to get back onto the game.
Cant remember in which order i did it but do you mean reinstall the game and then add the windows firewall rule? in that order?
wasn´t even talking about the rule. just to reinstall to see if it maybe was a problem on your end.
has helped me before ( years ago, when others did not have the same problem with the game not starting).

yeah just reinstalled again and set up the rule but still nothing happening, im actually sure there is something simple going on but ive tried everything and nothing is working. i followed that post that you put and must have done it about 10 times, looked through all the comments and also re -read through that post line by line to make sure i didnt mess anything up and i didnt. I thanks you for taking the time to help though.
::EDIT:: reinstalled everything now and deleted all the appdata etc gonna see if that will do antying
::EDIT:: nothing happened it must be something to do with my connection my side, still had the classic era work but mop classic doesnt, i tried deleting appdata etc and everything but nothing is working im at a loss, i spent 6 hours on this and the sad thing is i had more helpe from people and blizz doesnt give af
