Battlenet on the desktop loads fine, but after i press Play, Warcraft begins to start for a few seconds but fails to launch and goes back to the launcher.
This is on a New SSD installed in my laptop with a New Windows 10 Home installed onto it. After downloading WOW it launched OK a few weeks ago, however this weekend when i finally got some time both Windows and WOW had updates. When i tried to launch WOW a black screen showed for a couple of seconds then returned to the launcher.
I’ve tried -d3d11 but has no effect
I’ve tried -windowed, this just allows a windowed version to appear for a few seconds before it disappears.
I tried uninstalling windows updates but this caused a few issues and had to do a full reinstall of everything.
As far as i know Windows is fully up to date as is WOW and I’ve run driver updates and they’re showing as running latest editions.
Windows 10 is recently new to me as i was an avid fan of windows 7 which worked a dream, so i don’t know if it’s playing nice as I’ve heard it doesn’t particularly likes games. Any advice would be a great help, thanks in advance.
Try to open WoW.exe from your game directory and look if it will launch or will cause the same problem.

Hi thanks for the response. I’ve tried:
Opening the WoW.exe from the game directory,
Updating my drivers,
Reset my in-game options
Disabled all Antivirus and fire walls,
Deleted the battle.net folder,
Ran the repair tool,
Unfortunately the same problem still exists and game still does not launch.
However i will be upgrading my desktop PC in the same way with a SSD and windows 10 in the next week or so and i shall go through the same process with that as i have with my laptop, so i’ll compare any similarities between the two.
My laptop is getting on a bit so maybe it no longer can run WoW even though when it ran Windows 7 with 6 GB of RAM it was fine and now its running Windows 10 with 8 GB of slightly faster RAM (ACER Aspire 5742 i5-480M) it has now run into problems. Thank you for your suggestions and i’ll report back if/when i get WoW back up and running, i guess Soulsearcher will have to twiddle his thumbs a little bit longer.
