Game wont launch

For two days now, game just doesnt want to launch.
When i press “Play” it says “Launching”, but after few seconds it goes back to “Play”, with nothing happenning. Further “pressings” result in same way.

I tried update graphic drivers and uninstalling bnet and installing again, I also tried using that “-d3d11” under game settings/options, but nothing helps.
Game works fine on one PC, but on my other PC this keeps on happenning for 2 days straight.

I’ve got the same issue, tried everything so far:

Been like this for weeks since getting new PC with windows 11 in early Jan

Exact same issue here. Decided to come back to WoW to see how things are. And cannot even launch the damn game.

Figured I’d triple check GPU related software and drivers seeing as it’s literally a “display” issue and have now spent all day between Lenovo driver assist software and Intel driver software and still nothing.
My Integrated GPU Intel UHD 770 is showing completely up to date via all means.
I’m at my wits end with all this, it’s been weeks.

I cannot see it being your Intel GPU. I have a RTX 3070 and have the same issue as you.

Press Play
Says it’s launching
Then goes back to Play
Task manager shows a WoW process that just never displays on the desktop.

Now, I admit my game is only 32% downloaded, but I tried on another PC as a quick test, and as soon as I could select Play (way less than 32%) it loaded up on that PC fine.

My game is fully downloaded and everything was fine for months, same pc, same components, havent changed anything. Still the same thing.

I got issue today what was “game agent went to sleep, trying to wake it up…” so BN wont show anything exept friendlist but no games, news etc. Now it gives text that something broke /error. I can´t start game as it needs BN to even start. Restarting computer wont help and I cant even uninstall BN as it gives error too. I have win11. Game worked yesterday but not today. Do I just need to delete BN files from Wow file or what I will do or do I just need to wait?

I had the exact same thing yesterday - the ‘something broke’ error message. This is the first I’ve ever seen that message
This was about yesterday afternoon 28/01 - it suggested to restart battlenet, but I just did a complete shut down (not restart) loaded it back up and scan/repair appeared to work again - but alas, still no game on screen.

If you’re unable to uninstall BNET via the app feature (I had this too) I had to clear all BNET/Blizzard files: %appdata% %localappdata% %temp% etc - all those places.

I’ve done about 5-6 complete clear and re-installs of both BNET and WoW

Very strange that we both experienced that message?..

I get this every single WoW patch without fail. Most often the solution is to run the scan & repair tool and let it do its thing.

Sometimes that doesn’t work and you have to wait for the next hotfix patch to play, sometimes you need a combination of:

  • Repair Tool
  • New graphics drivers
  • Completely uninstall and reinstall bnet and all associated games

Really annoying for a 180MB patch.

As of 04/02/25 recently tried:

  • GPU drivers uninstalled/reinstalled every way possible - INTEL UHD 770 latest driver version 10/01/2025 32.0.101.6458
  • Checked Itegrated GPU is selected in BIOS

No matter anything and everything I try it makes no difference at any point, it’s still never once appeared on the task bar, popped up on screen (even for a split second) or had any error message from any software… there’s just something stopping the game from being displayed every time.

Have you recently “Upgraded” to the 2024H2 update of Windows 11?

I had similar symptoms after upgrading (which impacted other games as well as Wow).

I was able to resolve this by disabling fast startup and running disk cleanup (to remove the windows update files).

Thank you for the suggestion, yes the PC had just upgraded on the 28/01/25 to the 2024H2 (though this issue was occuring before this update since initital set up 16/12/24)
Worth a go though!
…However after disabling fast startup and initiating disk clean up (removing windows update files took a while so I was feeling hopeful!) there is unfortunately, still no change :frowning:

God knows if this will work but a pastebin link to my dxdiag?
DxDiag results

Also had this tab with the DxDiag results?
Battle.net.config

And this tab too:
58f140d8.config

I don’t think i’ve doxxed myself in any of these!.. :woman_shrugging:
