I had to re-install my games even when the game was still working earlier. No patches skipped, no error messages had, just pure “install” button when bnet launcher opened
Okay, well done?
I am not sure what you are asking here, you just seem to be making a statement, rather than asking for any assistance.
Well you know, having to re-install your games everytime you open Bnet is not fun thing to do daily
No, I agree. It’s not a fun thing, but I am still unsure what you are asking.
Are you asking how to install them?
Are you asking how to reinstall the blizzard app?
Can I ask, what process you are using to “reinstall”? Have you tried a scan and repair instead?
Asking why did I have to re-install all, and still am, even when all the games are on machine, but Bnet insists on downloading all of them again, and I did all the things that bnet support says:rescanned games, all are there. But still needs to re-install/download all the games
If the files are still there (your post doesn’t make it clear if they are or not) you should be able to use the “Locate Game” option next to the Install button instead to point the app at the right place. The only reason I can think of that it’d lose the location is if the files that tell the app where things are are getting corrupted or deleted somehow.
@Nyshae, did that, everything is there, files of every game I mean. and when I use the relocate button it shows that all the games are there
That is a question that I doubt anyone can answer with the given information.
When you reinstall them, do you just… Click reinstall? Have you tried “Locate Game” from the options menu?
Never mind you and Ny both posted while I was typing this.
Ye and re-install as in that the button that usually says “Play” is now “Install” and the games (Wow and OW) were running fine +4hours ago
So you’re saying that despite being able to use the “locate” option and telling the app which directory the files are in (by manually using “locate” and telling it ‘it’s this folder for this game’) it continues to show an “install” button instead of play? Sorry, it’s just not clear what you mean.
Click on the blizzard icon on the launcher, choose settings, then on the left, choose “Game install/update”.
On the screen that appears, check the path for each of the games is correct.
Nyshae, that is exactly what it is doing. The game is on machine, the game is installed, the game worked few hours ago perfectly, the path where game is is correct and checked multiple times, but now out of the blue it wants to re-install the game again, and its not installing it to any magical other directory, but on the same folder as the game, which already is there
Have you run a chkdisk on the drive? It might be worth doing.
did that too and checked all the virus programs I had, nothing suspicious found, also everything is okay in the account side, nothing stolen in game or cards used
The only time I saw anything like this in the past, it turned out to be a dying hard drive. The installer would lose one or two critical files due to drive corruption. It’d download new ones, but they’d get downloaded to the drive in exactly the same spot, so they’d be ok until the corruption kicked in again.
A kind GM helped me figure that out by getting me to move them to an entirely new drive.
You could try deleting the Battle.net cache entirely using these instructions and see if it helps, but it’s pretty odd it’s happening to all games without even an error. https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/34719
You’ll need to use the locate option again after that.
I have a similar issue. For the last week or so my launcher is frequently showing the install button, but in my case using locate game solves the problem. I don’t have to reinstall. It is a relatively minor inconvenience but still irritating when I don’t know why. I ran a check disk and no errors reported.
Heya,
If deleting the Battle.net Cache and Battle.net Files does not solve this for you, please fully reinstall the Blizzard App and see if that helps out. This does not impact your game installations in any way, you can locate the installation directories again once installed to connect your games.
Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!
@Nenyasqi You in particular are doing a fine job. But this is an unacceptable issue. THIS IS AFTERALL A PAYD SERVICE (World of Warcraft). Please as a member of the Support Team pass on the message that this NEEDS to be fixed already.
There was really no need to bump up a 2 year old thread addressing someone that no longer posts on these forums.
