Do Garrison shipyards not make gold anymore? I remember grinding a bit of gold from that but never see gold missions appear anymore. Did you get rid of it?
Yes. And for good reason. Same applies to the regular garrison missions.
What reason would that be?
garrison used to be the best gold farm in the game by a country mile.
if you had a few alts you could easily make at least 30k gold per week from missions alone.
if it kept giving that much gold, no one would ever bother with leaving them.
It was giving out too much gold, which in return caused a huge influx of gold within the economy.
If you had multiple alts and built out garrison on all of them you could rake in thousands upon thousands of gold on a daily basis.
Well they do charge 5 million for an AH mount, and 2 million for Widow mount. Gold farming is crap at the moment.
Their so expensive because it needs to be a goldsink for that reason xD
Or maybe Blizzard got rid of Shipyard gold so people would purchase gold Tokens. Money money money.
Thatâs not how the token works, it would hold no bearing on the price.
If gold was as easy to farm as it was back in WoD then the token would simply be at something like 500k.
It was removed in legion, like 4+ years now.
thatâs just not true.
Token got introduced mid-WOD and it was consistently cheap throughout the remainder of it, costing about 40-50k on EU, slowly creeping up to ~60k in Legion prepatch. On US it was even less pricey, with price dropping as low as 25k gold.
Gold was never easier to grind than in WOD, but people left WOD in droves, hardly anyone played outside of grinding easy gold and raiding/pvping (that was actually good in WOD). Starting from Legion ppl returned in large numbers and token price went up.
BFA had big deflation, with gold being much harder to grind than WOD or even Legion, yet token price remains high, in 8.3 it peaked at ca. 250k. Itâs because of BIS gear being buyable on auction house (corrupted loot costing millions) AND the long boy being time-constrained, tempting ppl to buy more tokens.
If people want gold, they buy and sell tokens, so yes, it partly is. It plays a big part actually, and Blizzard know it, itâs a smart move by them. When they introduce mounts like 5 mil AH mount and 2 mil Widow for example, people would do a lot and spend a lot to get those mounts, especially collectors.
Like Athulua mentioned, gold is much harder to grind than WOD or even Legion, and the Token price is between 150-200k gold each now, but wasnât back then.
it completely ruined the economy.
Those were brought in specifically because a good portion of the playerbase was sitting on millions of gold.
Collectors who didnât have the cash for it (and those whoâd buy a lot of tokens in order to get these mounts) are the collateral damage of this move. Blizzard won plenty on it, though not as much as they would have liked in Legion (earning money was still really good then.)
Just boost m+/raid/jaina and you will never have problems regarding gold again. I mean Iâm raking in almost 1 mil every 2 weeks and Iâm not even boosting a lot.
