Currently I have Jewelcrafting/Mining on my character since I always pair 1 gathering and 1 crafting profession. But reading more and more what other people do, I see many have two crafting professions at the same character.
With the ore/herb low prices I don’t see having a gathering profession worth as much as it was at the start of the expansion. So I was considering to swap mining for alchemy and keep JC and alchemy for a long term since I would like to pick up old alchemy recipes as well, same as I did with JC (one of the reasons why I don’t want to drop it, lol).
So I would like to ask few questions for an example are you running two crafting professions or you prefer to have a gathering one? Do you think JC/Alch is a good combo even they are using different mats? Do you have troubles to level two crafting professions at the same time and is it costly? Are you still able to make some gold, etc.? Basically any info, suggestion or advice is welcome.
From my perspective Alchemy seems like a good long term profession, mostly for QoL and saving gold on flasks. I like the idea of being self sufficient and supply myself with my own resources, but usually that’s not a case, since you need a lot of things from the other professions and since I play one, eventually 2 chseacters it’s a bit hard to decide what would be the best solution.
Yeah you can easily run 2 crafting professions in dragonflight. My evoker actually has jewelcrafter and alchemy and it works fine. Frankly I have 4 characters on 70 with alchemy just for the flask duration.
I have all the crafting professions and only 2 gathering professions that I picked just because there was no point in duplicating any more crafting professions. I basically just buy all my mats off ah.
Maybe I can pick JC/Alch on this one and mining/herb on the alt that I occasionally play just in case I need something, but that would be on a very long stick since I am not a huge fan of gathering, I just get pretty bored fast. So far I was doing gathering only while I am questing/leveling, etc. Most of the time I feel lazy or in rush to stop in full speed to pick up the node. I never say:“Okay I am bored let’s go out and farm nodes.”
I have jewelcrafting & tailoring … and a druid alt who mines what I need for JC and herbs so I can afford to buy other stuff I need.
I also have a self-sufficient skinner/leatherworker.
It depends how much time you have for gathering and/or how much gold you have to buy mats from the AH.
it doesn’t matter if they’re on the same toon or not but if u don’t get a gathering prof. then it’ll cost u a lot, especially with rare things .i’d suggest having crafting on main because of having easier access to BOP recipes
Usually early expansion or patch(if it gives new mat for example) going full crafting can be quite expensive since the mats are not many on the AH and the demand is high. Later in the expansion, the prices drop rapidly and you can live off the AH mats.
Thanks Anan! That’s really nice combo since tailoring doesn’t require another profession.
Usually I don’t have much time for gathering I do it mostly while questing or picking up my weekly KPs, nothing more then that. It is my small, passive gold outcome, but not very big. Only specific things like rousing mats and Kaz ore are still decent, that’s it. I made some gold during this expansion with JC and usually I supply myself for everything like flasks, pots, even mats for JC directly from the AH.
@Breaths
Usually gathering mats are expensive at the start of the expansion and then it’s a bit hard to play more then one character.
