Gathering professions and mounts

This is a very unimportant request but nevertheless did i feel like sharing it.

One of my professions is herbalism on my main. So obviously i bought the Sky Golem mount because it allows me to gather while mounted. However this also makes it so that if you have herbalism you don’t really use any other mount because that is wildly inefficient. I’m assuming that’s why Blizzard never released these type of mounts options for other professions. Now as i have said before this is a very minor thing but it would be really cool if i would be able to enchant my gloves that will allow me to gather from my mount, no matter which mount i’m on.

Anyways, just a suggestion. Let me know what you think.

You can use this consumable to do the same thing with all mounts and not just herbalism :

Also works with this one to prevent you from getting dazed :

The same kind of consumables exist for Legion too btw.

That said, i think similar mounts would be great for mining and maybe fishing, but too many of the same kind would just reduce their worth.

Although it would be better for most players, i wouldn’t want the sky golem to recieve the water strider treatment and turning it’s unique ability into a mount equipement.

The sky golem has a beneficial effect on MoP crafting materials, iirc the MoP ores are most of the time worth more than their BFA counterpart. I think it’s a great thing and the game needs more useful profession mounts, not the other way around.

Pretty good idea. And probably the best solution… I don’t think removing it from the mount for “balance” (as I’ve seen people suggest in the past) would be a good move as it was obviously put there in the first place because it’s mount appropriate; shredders are primarily deforestation/logging machines so it makes sense for the golem to have it.

+1 vote for glove enchant

Sounds like a fair position. What’s your take on the fact that people might feel forced to use certain mounts due to efficiency+

Nobody is forcing you though, if you want to be efficient it’s the price you pay otherwise you use whatever mount cause who cares if you save 3-4 minutes

Overall i don’t share the feeling of being forced into a mount, i use it if i want to herb and i don’t when i don’t care about herbs. It’s still m’y choice and i have other ways to make gold should i ever need it.

But you do have a point as many people don’t want to be inefficient and may never change mount.

It really takes a while to craft a Sky golem, but unless the enchant is even harder to get it could destroy this niche market. Is that a bad thing overall ? Idk, crafted mounts do sell and the golem still have an unique skin. It might still well afterward, maybe at a lower price.

Your suggestion takes away something unique and share it to all mounts.
It’s most likely a good compromise although i wouldn’t want it to be too widespread. I believe we shouldn’t take away what makes a mount unique everytime it offers something else than looks.

The golem ability made me want to farm to buy it, while most if not all other BOE mounts didn’t manage to do so. That’s something WoW should keep imo.

That’s an issue for the Water Strider too (Water Walking), you will be happy to know that in the next patch there will be a “mount enchant” that will allow you to water walk with any mount you want. That doesn’t affect the Sky Golem tho, because it have already an unique ability.

Yeah, that doesn’t change anything about the Sky Golem, but maybe in the future they will do something about that, they found the “issue” indeed for the Water Strider atleast.

Anyway, i’m not sure i would do something about that, the herb gathering is the reason why it’s so on demand on basically any realm you play, i’m pretty sure that if Blizzard change this unique thing, it would literally tank in prices (and in sells too), that’s not a problem for the Water Strider because it’s never been a sellable mount.

But that’s where it’s not exactly true. The game forces you to use the mount if you want to be efficient. If you don’t use the mount you have to re-mount after every herb you gather, that’s an insane timeloss.
For example, i farmed up the stupid tillers reputation from MoP just so i could ride that silly goat. However, if i’m out and about doing whatever in the world and i’m riding my goat there is no way to shake the feeling that if i was riding the golem i would be faster and more efficient which eventually leads me to change to the golem mount.
Of course the game is not forcing me with threats. But i am making the argument it’s forcing me by efficiency. I don’t know if you’re a herbalist in game but it makes a massive difference.

Anyway, that’s my stance on it.
