Dear Blizzard,
you seem to have left Divine Shield, a very important Paladin Defensive Cooldown on the Global Cooldown.
When BfA came out, there were a lot of GCD changes compared to Legion and Divine Shield being put on it was one of those changes. Ever since the launch of BfA, you’ve been removing important cooldowns, such as mobility and defensive cooldowns off the GCD, the reason why, to my understanding, being that you simply didn’t want all offensive cooldowns to be bunched together into a single button. As far as I understand it, you started removing mobility and defensives off the GCD to improve the player experience, seeing as those abilities are usually required on a split second basis, so as to escape player death.
Playing somewhat seriously throughout Legion, where Divine Shield was not on the Global Cooldown, I’ve gotten quite used to pressing it whenever there’s only a few % left on my life total and this has lead me to dying many times over the past few months, most often during PvP encounters, where I try to keep my character constantly on the GCD. I admit, it’s my fault for not adapting to this change, however I feel it is kind of unreasonable to keep Divine Shield on the GCD, when you’ve seem to focus on removing defensive cooldowns off the GCD specifically for the split-second reaction that can save player lives, especially seeing as you’ve already removed Lay on Hands, a similarly live saving ability, off the Global Cooldown.
I’ve been hoping that you would remove Divine Shield off the GCD for months now, so I could once again be in peace knowing there’s always a button that I can press that will give me absolute protection (unless a priest is nearby), and I still hold out hope that you eventually will.
If anyone at Blizzard reads this, thank you for everything you’ve done for the game in trying to make a better player experience as of late and hope you can do something about this too.
Sincerely,
a Paladin that has died to the GCD.
