The change is mainly for retail, because things are completely out of hand there. Many boosting communities infesting all servers/shards with non-stop advertisements to the point where if you want to boost someone, you have to jump onboard. This is what they’re trying to put an end to.
Not just that, but I think the change is entirely because TradeChat is virtually unuable for anything other than seeing 5-10 boosters post the same message on repeat. Join any large server, join tradechat and watch.
You guys remember the last time they “cracked down” on Booster services?
It was when the LFG tool was starting to have more “WTS 15+” groups listed as ads compared to “actual” 15+ groups trying to form a group for a m+ run.
In this short video you can see him join the tradechat and just see how many “boosting” messages appear in that short a timespan.
This basically makes TradeChat unusable for anyone who doesn’t use addons to filter the chat or manually ignore each and every booster-spammer.
This is the reason they’re cracking down.
well since none of you actually care to think beyond your 5man boosting squad ( which im not even asking about if its legal to boost ).
There is people with with hundred of people willing to boost people for gold in TBC, just like the boosting services being offered on retail. They are exactly the same, ran on the exactly same way. You pay X amount for Y Service.
Do you guys even know how a boosting service work? Atleast we have the US forums which are not full of EU simps thank god.
And blizzard said a Escrow system is not allowed which basically GDKPs are in the first place. Ur holding a item/kill until you recieve payment and then you deliver the item/kill.
How do you know if ur “booster” achievement group is not part of an organization? ( You have no idea what ur doing is a bannable offense or not atm cuz the guidelines are extremely vague which the US community also are talking about.
Where is the line drawn between Player, Guild, Organization? 1player 500 players 2000 players? we have discord server with well over 2k players that can basically run GDKPs 24/7 or any other sort of boosts aslong as people are paying, just because you dont have a 24/7 spam on ur server doesnt mean it doesnt happen.
If I’m reading Kaivax’s post correctly, GDKP is fine as long as it only involves direct transactions and relationships between the boostee and the boosters, rather than a larger infrastructure of x-realm advertisers and low-lvl spammers.
From Kaivax:
“That depends on the definition of “financially”. If it means an exchange of gold only without a middleman entity, then it sounds like the same sort of guild activities players have been enjoying for 17 years, which are not the focus of this policy update.”
