they will just track your player tag id, characters mean nothing, unless you have a completely different account on a different sub for alts they can tack anything on your account no matter what character your on.
say you hunter is call mard,
you log onto your priest called mrtrymyluck
you trade etc like you said, both chars are still linked to your blizz player id of #inserttaghere
prob even more complex than that but i aint no coder
edit: some games when they issue perma ban actually ban the persons hardware so if they make a new account or use a vnp they still cant play, sure they can ban ips and can route around vpns as well i duno
I understand what you’re saying and I definitely believe you 100%, it makes absolute sense that they can track the whole account.
The thing is that this Gdkp rule is mostly due to the boss drops, which are BoP and thus cannot be sold neither “by” your other characters neither “to” your other characters, so the BoE thing is a whole other layer that goes beyond the BoP items dropped by bosses.
EDIT: also, BoE’s are usually much worse than the items dropped by bosses, and most of the times are not even upgrades to any of the raid members…
Personally I argue against it. SOD already has a huge Issue with stupid Raid Groups only accepting People that are already Geared, have full EXP and worldbuff + “Buff Food” for like 20G and when the Group wipes 2-3 People leave.
I dont like GDKPs and never did or will do them, however SOD Phase 2 is already Dead in the Water and this will only further Kill it
Well WoW had Bots since its earlly days, that you might not have been a part of. The Issue is not that Bots exist, the Issue is that Blizzard tries to fix a Problem (Overrated Raid Groups that are not capable enough that GS is not everything) with a Solution that wont really change the Issue its aimed for and wont fix the Issue its also aimed at (Bots), because if it would, Blizz would have implemented it Ages ago into Retail
I would argue against that. This will only reduce the active playerbase even more. Before you make assumptions: I never have and never will be Part of a GDKP, however currently the only 2 Ways to Raid and even have the chance of Items (in SOD) is to either be Part of a GDKP or being on Welfare and having the Time of being in a Guild and have Raid Trainings and all that. The Radom Raid Groups are complete and utter useless since they have Braindead Requirements and usually a bunch of People leave the Raid after the first Wipe (which happens) and ruin the ID for the whole Group.
I predict that Phase 3 wont be happening for SOD because the Community will have died out even more then it currently has
I think the principle point on banning GDKP is the selling/trading of BOP loot . The game premise is that BOP becomes Soulbound and can only be used by the person that loots it to their bags (or given via ML/Roll), therefore any form of trade of this kind of item breaks that premise going against this principle, once looted it’s yours no matter what.
BOEs don’t fit that rule as these can be traded freely until equipped, so wouldn’t break any rule where they were traded for gold, as that is a principle of them being BoE, you can equip or you can trade.
I raided Pug MS>OS for whole of phase 1 and nearly got full bis while skipping several ids. Never had anyone leaving after first wipe, usually takes 3 and a bad vibe for people to leave. Most groups in my experience really only had vague requirements like “have gear and xp”, which is absolutely fine. Personally when I made a group I just asked for XP, but also tolerated if some people in the raid didnt have it. Also I stopped buying any consumables after like 2-3 ids, because they are just not needed, sometimes I was too lazy to get WB, no one complained.
MS>OS is completely viable and fine, some people just have a weird mindset where they think a game is a task list and if they dont get a item its wasted time, hopefully the gdkp ban will contribute to “teach” players to handle luck a bit better again.
Yep, that is what I believe too, but since the rules are not specific enough, I would like a GM to confirm that, so I know what to tell the raid members in my groups.
@Kaivax please address the question.
People will still buy gold and spend on something else, Banning gdkp will not change that will make this game even more toxic. Bots and mrt will still be here u know it I know it and everyone else knows it.
Because that was an issue even in retail till this day. But retail have something what classic dont have and it is personal loot in m+ which u can make into raid gear and vault so it is not that much bad how is on classic.
Well thats pretty much the workaround isnt it
Gold buying is only one of the many, many reason to ban GDKP.
