Gear / HP shaming

Why do people do this? You say ANYTHING, and some snarky piece of !@&%#* has to say somethign like “You shoudn’t evne join, you have (this amount) HP”.

So I tried to be as useless as they think I am, and only use spellsteal and arcane barrage in the BG. However, it’s exhausting, so by the end, I have KBs and we kill lots and lots of them and I get their HP down quickly, whether it’s warrior or rogue - DK and Paladin did require a bit more work, but still.

And I shouldn’t join?

I helped that BG victory quite a lot - arcane missiles still pack quite a punch, and arcane mage’s burst can do a lot of damage in a BG at my level and my gear and my HP.

So first we are FORCED to get the darn cloak, which requires PAINSTAKING PvE for hours and hours and usually it takes me two days to get through that questline - imagine doing this for multiple chars, and STILL people whine and shame you for your ‘supposedly lowly gear’?

Shouldn’t such assesment be made only AFTER they’ve seen you in action, and seen how ‘useless’ you might or might not be? Not before the BG actually starts, based solely on numbers and HP amount?

Give us a break, let people show their usefulness - maybe a lowbie can cap a flag or CC someone in a crucial moment, maybe they can carry a flag or call incs. Anything helps!

It’s INSANE to think that just because someone has ‘lower’ gear than you, they “shouldn’t join”.

Let EVERYONE AND ANYONE join casual BGs! If you want strict gear rules, go play rated, ok? OK??

Damnit. .I am sure it’s still not over, people are still going to practice this black magic of HP and gear shaming. Just don’t, it’s better if you don’t.

It’s not insane. If you join way below the average gear, you are a liability for your team, more noticeable in smaller bg like WG.

Nobody is saying that you need to be 475 to join, but since there is a ton of gear available from world quest, 440 ilvl is the bare minimum you should have before joining to avoid being oneshotted or close to by everyone, leaving your team 1 member short.

Indeed, the difference between well-geared and new character is like day and night in terms of damage, much less healing. It always is at the end of an expansion, much less this RNG-filled, gear/azerite/essence/corruption-based one. When people want to win, or are on a losing end, it’s very easily understandable why undergeared characters, who are undeniably pulling the team down, would be the target of ire.

That being said, it’s not like anyone can forbid you from joning BG naked, if you want. You can play the game as you want. But don’t be ignorant about your actual worth and value, which is very low. Complaning about this just makes you sound unintelligent and clueless - which probably means that you wouldn’t be doing much worthy anyway. You can’t defend because you get killed immediately. You can’t flag-carry, because you get killed immediately. You can’t support the team because sheep (since you talk about Arcane) gets broken immediately and you lack any other appreciable CC and have long interrupts. And you won’t be doing anywhere near the damage you would be doing if you were geared.

You can still play BGs. But you should well understand why people who want to win won’t welcome you. Especially when the other team is fully geared.

Joining a BG with 150k HP is not okay. You’ve literally not even done anything to even attempt to help yourself do damage and increase your survivability, all you’ve done is dinged, and queued up to a BG.

Not saying you personally, but when someone is that low HP, you must enjoy causing yourself harm.

Playing a fire mage is kinda different though, because Gpyro does percentage HP, so if you can hide behind meatshields and cast, you’re gonna be an asset regardless lol.

Sign me up.
The power difference between min-max without scaling is ridiculous. Let those who want superpowers vs lowbies have their queue. I want a fair& balanced game.

Ye maybe. Also, maybe, you can catch that enemy 2m hp dh tank flag carry and kill him before your own 150k hp mage flag carrier dies…you know…maybe.

To a well geared healers or their targets…but u know its 2020…so …maybe…

my 377 warlock does 10mil in bgs while my 452 warrior does 3-4mils

Then you are not dotting everything. You are just hitting single targets.

Rend especially must be 90% uptime on all 10 people if you want to have high damage.

yea i dont rend every one but even on single targer lock damage its better

This is true. Sometimes it really baffles me when someone queue as healer with item level 370. At the same time, I try to avoid being too triggered by it, maybe it’s a new player and they don’t know that much about the game yet? Having someone scream at them in chat then for something they don’t understand can be really disheartening.

I’ll admit, sometimes I’ve been rude to people in bgs when they join with 70-80k hp characters, because it’s effectively having one less person on your team, as you describe, but still, we have no control over it, so I guess it’s best just not to be bothered. Even though I struggle with that, from time to time.

Not only you have to rend , you have to make uptime rend 90% on all players. its dot class.

all ill say is you are playing the most tryhard ridden game out there, egos are massive as well for some reason. Being toxic is the new norm, specially towards new players.

do like me, avoid people in this game like the covid-19, and after every interaction, wash your hands.
