Forgive my stupidity but I have a level 80 character who had gear level around 600 before the new patch. Logged in today and now the gear level is under 100. Why is this?
It’s due to the Midnight pre-patch, and along with it came an item level stat squish. It doesn’t mean your gear got weaker: it simply means its item level got adjusted.

Numbers across the game are being reduced to improve clarity and readability. As always, your power level relative to that of your enemies will remain the same, there will simply be more relatable numbers on your screen.
