Gear scaling in wm on. How it exactly works in the end?

Im confused. Some people say only trinkets scale in the open world. Other say if you attack a player, your gear is getting scaled. Other, other say it only scales in the pvp zones…

Can someone tell me exactly how it works? Im constantly seeing people around the world with 350khp+ while Im getting such values only in the battlegrounds with items scaled to 411ilvl. I have 205khp with full honor gear in war mode on. How I can scale it to other people level? I just dont know the mechanics, how it works.

All 3 statements are correct actually. When you attack someone, your gear scales. Your trinkets are always giving you the stat buff when in wmode, and your gear gets scaled to its pvp ilvl when in a pvp zone. If you just autoattacked someone with your pvp gear you would see you actually go to the 320k hp values
