Gear System. Who thought of this?

Oi. I dare to challenge that rank!

I have to admit I haven’t read through every reply but I was amused that there was a video linked called something like ‘Warfronts are Confusing’. You are given quests the first time you enter to explain how every little thing works in them.

You would not claim that if you would have watched it, title makes sense but is not obvious

One thing I have zero time for is people who make youtube vids. Especially just to bash stuff.

Smh. You’re one of those persons who would bring the teacher an apple. Dont comment on it if you havent watched it, and why do you think so many people are bashing blizzard nowadays? Something is obviously wrong with the game but you wont admit to it because you’re a forum MVP lul

Fortunately you don’t get to say what I can and can’t comment on.

You might want to read some of my posts if you think I haven’t criticised things I don’t like about the game or given feedback about things I think they’ve gone wrong on.

Narrowminded and uninformed views of MVPs aren’t new. I’m starting to get used to them.

The entire reward structure is tailored to reward meaningless content.
They want everyone to feel epic, so they reward epics for everything.

Gearing has been turned into a soulless slotmachine (RNG)

I like my welfare gear.

Because WoW is no longer about meaningful character progression, just slot-machine RNG with no losers because of the current mentality in the gaming industry which focuses on rewarding the losers too. At least in previous expansions casuals could find meaningful progression/gear to aim towards as well, but now it’s all about rewarding everyone for minimal effort.

The only mistake is that the warfront released earlier than the season.

Other than that the season invalidating gear isn’t any different than an expansion invalidating gear.

It isn’t THAT much different compared to older expansions anyway. By the time you were in ICC your Naxxramass gear was obsolete. The lines are just more profound with the whole “season” thing now, but they always existed from WotLK an onwards. Only TBC had narrow ilvl progression and your Karazhan gear could get you to BT if you played well.

Vanilla practically had no progression at all since no matter how much gear you got you were always hindered from the tank’s threat generation. Which never scaled because it was based on Sunder Armor stacking.

You do not need to go that far however wrath is a special case.
The naxx gear was obsolete in Ulduar.
However 2set from Trail of the coloseum for some classes was so good that it was not obsolete in ICC.

True, but that’s an argument over set bonuses rather than ilvl itself. And that’s a big mess with merits on both sides of the discussion whether sets were good or not.

I lean more on the they should exist crowd, but also hoped that the Azerite system would practically be “choose your own set bonuses”. Which it KINDA is, but in a very lackluster way.

If I remember correctly Wotlk had catchup gear, we had Vault of Archavon there which gave basically free loot to the players equal to the current at the time raiding gear and the players could farm through the badge system from dungeons the raiding gear which would get them right into the raid which was the current one, they didn’t had to clear previous one to get it, which was good for the players which had breaks in the game or late comers to the content since they could just get straight back into the progression without being behind on the content.

Someone could argue that Blizzard tried to ensure more people had access to raiding much earlier than that.

TBC had straight up catch up content in the form of Zul’Aman. It still rewarded more well organised and geared groups with the Bear for a timely clear. In fact, they were more than catch up content, since some of the pieces were BiS till Sunwell, not due to ilvl, but because they provided the newly introduced Haste and Armor Penetration stats which everyone loved since they were overtuned.

However, even Vanilla had its own forms of “start up” content introduced, in the form of the introduction of Zul’Gurub. Without it the gap between dungeons and first raids was fairly big and you couldn’t get going much without friends in higher places. This trend continued with Ruins of Ahn’Qiraz.

And to be fair, there was nothing wrong with that. The more people who can enjoy the content the better. Catch up gear and start up content means that people are able to make the switch to raiding more seriously when they see fit, increasing the pool of recruits who can potentially end up being long term committed raiders.

We did not mind running lower raids and Heroic Dungeons in BC and forward because the rewards were there.
Today the dungeons, RAID´s etc. get left behind the minut LFR open for the new raid.
Why struggle for hours to maybe get some gear when you can afk for 20 min during a warfront and get a guarantee epic.
And why spend 30 min creating a raid group when you can do 4 WQ and get better than raid gear.

No they weren’t…the only rewards of that caliber were trinkets. And Gruul took 30 minutes to clear. It doesn’t even count as “running” it.

Past TBC you rarely ever went back. It only happened in ToTC, not because of high relevance of Ulduar, but because ToTC was just so quick to finish and guilds were left with nothing to do so might as well go grab some sidegrades. (also pandora’s plea from Mymiron being the most busted caster trinket ever and of course Val’anyr)

From ICC and forward you didn’t go back. It was titanforging which actually caused people to go back to older tiers once again.

I never did aswell, it took time and effort. TF, too strong pre-raid/pre-M+ gear and the removal of vendor and ML ruined the character progression for me. “It’s about the journey! Who cares I’m nearly full HC without even stepping foot in a single m+ nor HC or mythic raid!”. Most hyprocritical is that I should post on the main (which can change every tier for me, heck I had 3 mains spread during Legion) while they hide their profiles. Then someone searches them and they 8/8 LFR as tops most often.

They say: Nobody minds TF! And it’s proof, when I say “most raiders hate to farm lower difficulties just for TF” I have no proof and they claim it’s just a minority who say that.

The moment I started targetting the invasions and warfronts that give HC quality items for no real effort is when it got loose. I used to run alt raids, I stopped. Simple WQ, world bosses and AFK auto win warfront was gving me nearly the same or better loot anyhow for no more than tagging a mob.

The journey also involves gearing my chars according to my determination for them, and this current gear system? Give back vendors, VP, JP, CP and honor. Sure it took time to grind up the currency but at they very least character progression was tied to ingame effort, even if it was just a dungeon alt. Now it’s complete RNG.

Heck the caches even refuse to spit out the weapons or trinkets relevant to your spec. I only play the dagger specs on my rogue and so many maces and axes before I managed to just get a single dagger. Rather get currency and spend those on vendors than open mystery boxes.

And we are not the only ones, hence the uproar towards removal of ML and the calls, the endless calls for PvP and PvE vendors.

it is pretty silly tbf.
my main is 381, raiding HC uldir 8/8 and doing the occasional m+10
it can’t get higher gear if not via lucky warforge/titanforges.
my alts are 366 and 371 all gear coming from warfronts, emissaries, and weekly quests.

Im 380 in Resto gear and havent touched Uldir, not even HC lul. I do play PvP though, but i have 3 alts that are 370 and they havent even reached duelist, i also love when i get a fat challenger 380 titanforge on my alts that are better than my mains duelist gear.

We need something like, activity based, gear sharing and loot syatem, if you do not do anything you get nothing this is it. Some players are doing dps, healing, dispells, removing curses, counter spells and spellsteals etc for all specs what have they done after all those effort they get nothing this is insane what makes end of this game you know what I mean, activity based loot system this is it!
