I currently have equipped:
2 x Wrathion Rep - 398, 389
2 x Renown - 389
4 x Elemental Invasion (upgraded) - 385
2 x Conquest - 382
1 x Warmode (upgraded) - 385
4 x World Boss / Rare / Super-rare / event drops - 395, 385 weapon, 372, 369
For an ilvl of 385, all from casual content. I also have a set of Warmode / Conquest gear for a PvP ilvl of 413.
So, yes, there’s many ways to gear up.
Don’t forget this week’s 4x myth weekly with a nice loot piece (with additional pieces even on M0 + a vault next week depending of the Myth)

I want them to be permanent so much! 
Would “clear” the PvP scene actually and would make it better
Lots of people only queue for PvP to afk-gear up - this is a hill I’m willing to die on
With a viable alternative like comp stomp, the “real” PvP BGs/EBGs would be filled with pople who know how to PvP, actually and honestly likes PvP and enjoy PvP
