You could farm rares.
LFR
Actual raids
M+
PVP
Crafting
Renown gives gear pieces of 389ish i think.
The Hunt cache
Dragonbane cache
Weekly renown cache gives gear
Community feast
World Q’s

Edit:
Forgot Elemental invasions.

Edit 2:
As Tah said, weekly world boss.

i’m at ilevel 379 and haven’t stepped foot in a dungeon, you can easily craft gear, and some rares drop loot that scales upto ilevel 389, which can be farmed almost constantly.
the world events also drop loot that scales, as well as the weekly quests, the grand hunts etc…

obsidian zone rare have many good drops.

There is more ways to gear up than ever before in wow without group content. Malikychi pretty much summed it up perfectly.

Add the weekly world boss to that list (it’s not much but at least it’s a chance). :kissing_heart:

I got a char up to 70 last week. But it is actually quite a pain to get gear without buying 340 items on the AH and without dungeons. LFR requires 359, so that is a no go for a long time. WQ’s do not reset daily, and there is like 2 per half week that gives an item. And everything scales. Which means you get just a couple ilvl higher gear, and it can land in a slot you already have on a higher ilvl.

Never made any claims about how fast it all is … But i think many of us here can attest to being what, 370ish after the first week of play?

And some of these are farmable, like the elemental invasions. Which is farmable 359 gear. And i belive it can be upgraded to 380ish something from what i’ve heard … not really looked into that to much as that is not content i personally enjoy. But it is non the less there.

You can get 389 ring from cobalt thingy rep after a few hours of farming … you can even cheese it while levelling, just tag the mobs as the 70’s are killing them and get 3-5k xp per kill and get the rep

Really fast levelling and you can start lvl 70 with a 389 ring.

Wrathion/Sebllion rep, if you have gold to spare if lazy or again, a handful of hours farming and you can get 389 neck and 398 back armor.

pvp is not for everyone
lfr raid…how the heck do i get to them if im stuck at 343
raid same
all the others require renown plus they involve rares quests and grind

again, nothing new

Honestly only by doing M0. At least; when i speak for myself. Missing out a slot or 2/3 after week 1.

Are there guids for this, since this is very new for me. I tried to farm elementals but i did not really seem to get anything from it. I did quite some stuff at cobalt, but i am not seeing a high ring either.

Anyway; my new leveled char just went dungeons and timed up to +10 already yesterday. So it is not really a problem to me personally. But all the open world stuff did not seem to be relevant.

So your question isn’t “is HC dungeons the only way to gear” It’s not.

But the usual “I dont like the game” post …

Fair enough, then i recommend you find something else to play

Cobalt is from a vendor when the rep get’s to level 4. It took me around 3-4 hours to farm the cobalt rep for the ring, and that was post nerf.
Elemental invasions gives a currency you can exchange for gear in Valdrakken, vendor is at cords 38.13, 37.44.

I took my warlock alt to almost full itemlevel 359 (Except for rings and trinkets, and a 385 off-hand) by doing elemental invasions, just a few hours of tagging along with the group, tagging whatever i could as the other players swarmed over the mobs like heavily-armed locusts.

If a few hours of grinding for a nearly-full set of gear is too much for you to handle, no offence, but are you sure you even want to play a MMORPG?

dont oversimplify what people say it really change the meaning of things

Yes well you can get gear by either beating challenges in raids, dungeons etc, or by grinding. Not sure what kind of games you’re used to where gear just magically appears in your bag.

Hmmm… Where did we simplify or misrepresent your post?
